LAST FISCAL YEAR 203 LOW-INCOME COUNTY RESIDENTS OR MEMBERS OF THE COUNTY'S WORKFORCE RECEIVED FREE, CONVENIENT, AND INDIVIDUALIZED LITERACY, MATH, HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA PREPARATION, AND/OR ENGLISH INSTRUCTION. OF THESE 203 STUDENTS, 59 RECEIVED BASIC LITERACY SERVICES, 77 WERE ESL STUDENTS, AND 67 WERE HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA PREPARATION STUDENTS. THERE WAS NO CHARGE TO THE STUDENT FOR BOOKS, TUTORING, OR ASSESSMENTS THEY RECEIVED. STUDENTS MET THEIR TUTOR FOR ONE-ON-ONE INSTRUCTION AT THE FACILITIES OF ONE OF OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS OR AT ONE OF 16 LOCAL PUBLIC LIBRARIES AT CONVENIENT DAYS AND TIMES FOR THEIR SCHEDULES. ADDITIONALLY, NINE AACLC LITERACY AND MATH VOLUNTEERS TUTORED INCARCERATED OR DETAINED PEOPLE AT ORDNANCE ROAD CORRECTIONAL FACILITY CENTER OR JENNIFER ROAD DETENTION CENTER. AACLC PARTNERS WITH THE CHRYSALIS HOUSE FOR WOMEN AND THE FAMILY SUPPORT CENTER IN ANNAPOLIS TO PROVIDE HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA PREPARATION, MATH, OR ESL TUTORING FOR THEIR CLIENTS. AACLC MATH TUTORS ALSO PROVIDED TARGETED MATH HELP FOR MILITARY RECRUITS SO THAT THEY MAY PREPARE FOR AND PASS THE ASVAB TEST FOR ENTRY INTO THE MILITARY.
