AGI ANTICIPATES CHALLENGES, PROPOSES SOLUTIONS, AND BOLSTERS THE GERMAN-AMERICAN PARTNERSHIP.

OTHER PROGRAMS IN FISCAL YEAR 2023, AGI HOSTED SEVEN FELLOWS SUPPORTED BY THE GERMAN ACADEMIC EXCHANGE SERVICE AND BROUGHT TOGETHER FORMER FELLOWS AT AN EVENT IN BERLIN. THE FOREIGN AND SECURITY POLICY PROGRAM OFFERED EVENTS RELATED TO THE ZEITENWENDE AND EASTERN EUROPE, AND HOSTED NUMEROUS SENIOR POLICYMAKERS.. THE STEVEN MULLER NEW INITIATIVES PROGRAM SUPPORTS AGIS PODCAST, THE ZEITGEIST, WHICH REGULARLY INTERVIEWS HIGH-LEVEL AND EXPERT SPEAKERS ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS, INCLUDING THE WAR IN UKRAINE. IT ALSO SUPPORTS AGIS ACTIVITIES AT THE MUNICH SECURITY CONFERENCE. THE FIRST FUTURES FORUM TOOK PLACE IN GERMANY IN NOVEMBER 2022, WITH ONGOING PLANNING FOR THE NEXT EVENT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. A GRANT FROM THE BMWI ALLOWED AGI TO EXAMINE THE GERMAN-AMERICAN ROLE IN ADDRESSING GLOBAL CRISES. SUPPORT FROM THE HALLE FOUNDATION ENABLED AGI TO OFFER PAID INTERNSHIPS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
GEOECONOMICS THE AGI GEOECONOMICS PROGRAM PROMOTES ORIGINAL THINKING AND DEBATE ON U.S., GERMAN, AND EU GLOBAL ECONOMIC STRATEGY WITH A FOCUS ON WAYS THAT TRADE, INVESTMENT, FINANCIAL, AND TECHNOLOGY POLICIES CAN ADVANCE THEIR SHARED INTERESTS, PROSPERITY, AND VALUES. KEY TOPICS IN FISCAL YEAR 2023 INCLUDED TRADE AND INVESTMENT; THE GLOBAL ECONOMIC ORDER; DIGITAL POLICY; DOMESTIC ECONOMICS, AND RELATIONS WITH CHINA. THE PROGRAM PUBLISHES A BLOG, THE WIDER ATLANTIC, IN ADDITION TO REGULARLY SOLICITING EXPERT ANALYSES, APPEARING IN NEWS MEDIA, AND HOSTING HIGH-PROFILE EVENTS. SUCH EVENTS IN 2023 COVERED TOPICS INCLUDING TRADE AND SHARED VALUES, AI, AND THE GLOBAL ECONOMY IN 2023.
SOCIAL DIVISIONS AND QUESTIONS OF IDENTITY IN THE U.S. AND GERMANY A GRANT FROM THE BMWI ALLOWED AGI TO COMPLETE A THREE-YEAR PROJECT THAT ADDRESSED DIVISIONS IN BOTH GERMAN AND U.S. SOCIETIES. THE PROJECT FOCUSED ON A NUMBER OF FACTORS THAT ARE UNDERLYING THE DIVISIONS, INCLUDING SOCIAL, DEMOGRAPHIC, ECONOMIC, GEOGRAPHIC, AND IDENTITY DYNAMICS. THIS AGI PROGRAM ESTABLISHED NEW CONNECTIONS WITHIN AND BETWEEN COMMUNITIES BY BRINGING INDIVIDUALS TOGETHER FOR AN HONEST EXCHANGE OF THE ISSUES IN SIX LOCATIONS: GLENDALE, AZ, BUFFALO, NY, WASHINGTON, DC, CHEMNITZ, DORTMUND, AND MEMMINGEN.
