LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL WAS FOUNDED IN 1939, AND IS THE WORLD'S FIRST COMMUNITY-BASED, VOLUNTEER-OPERATED YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAM. THE INAUGURAL LITTLE LEAGUE SEASON WAS PLAYED IN WILLIAMSPORT, PA., AND SINCE THAT FATEFUL YEAR, COUNTLESS NEIGHBORHOODS AND TENS OF MILLIONS OF CHILDREN AND VOLUNTEERS HAVE PROUDLY BEEN MEMBERS OF THE PROGRAMREGARDLESS OF PHYSICAL SIZE, SKILL, STRENGTH, GENDER, RELIGION, OR NATIONALITY, LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL OFFERS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR A CHILD TO EXPERIENCE AND BENEFIT FROM THE LIFE LESSONS, SOCIALIZATION, AND CAMARADERIE THAT ARE THE CORNERSTONES OF THE PROGRAM.
