RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES OF MARYLAND, INC. OWNS AND OPERATES THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE. THE MARYLAND RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE IS LOCATED IN THE CITY OF BALTIMORE. THE FIVE HOSPITALS PRIMARILY SERVED BY THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE ARE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND MEDICAL SYSTEM, JOHNS HOPKINS HOSPITAL, SINAI HOSPITAL, MT. WASHINGTON PEDIATRIC HOSPITAL AND KENNEDY KRIEGER INSTITUTE. THERE ARE NO SPECIFIC GEOGRAPHIC PARAMETERS REGARDING SERVICE, AS THE HOUSE SERVES FAMILIES FROM EVERY PART OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND AS WELL AS ALL CORNERS OF THE WORLD. TO BE ELIGIBLE TO STAY AT THE HOUSE, A FAMILY MUST HAVE A CHILD AGE 21 OR YOUNGER RECEIVING TREATMENT AT ANY ONE OF THE AREA HOSPITALS. THE FAMILIES MUST BE REFERRED BY A SOCIAL WORKER FROM THE HOSPITAL TO STAY AT THE HOUSE. THE HOUSE HAS 55 ROOMS, INCLUDING 9 SUITES AND 46 STANDARD GUEST ROOMS. THE HOUSE ALSO HAS:- STRATEGICALLY-DESIGNED COMMUNITY GATHERING SPACES THAT PROMOTE INTERACTION AMONG GUESTS- ACCESSIBLE KITCHEN AND DINING ROOM- MEDITATION ROOM FOR SOLITUDE AND RESPITE- TEEN AND YOUNG ADULT ROOM- STUDENT CLASSROOM SPACE AND FAMILY BUSINESS CENTER WITH COMPUTERS, PRINTERS, AND INTERNET ACCESSIBILITY- OUTDOOR PLAYGROUND WITH AN ADJACENT PICNIC AND DINING AREA FOR OUTDOOR MEALS AND SPECIAL EVENTS- THE MAGIC ROOM - A "KIDS ONLY" ROOM- LAUNDRY AND EXERCISE FACILITIES- FULLY-ACCESSIBLE BATHROOMS- PRIVATE KITCHEN AND DINING SPACE FOR IMMUNE-SUPPRESSED FAMILIES AND THOSE WHO NEED A CALM AREA FOR MEALTIME- BOARD AND COMMUNITY ROOM - ROOF TOP TERRACESMORE THAN 1,100 VOLUNTEERS ASSISTED DURING THE YEAR BY PROVIDING MEALS FOR THE FAMILIES, CLERICAL SUPPORT, GARDENING, AND HOSTING SPECIAL EVENTS FOR THE FAMILIES.
