DANCE PLACE HAS SUCCESSFULLY RETURNED TO A ROBUST SCHEDULE OF EDUCATION PROGRAMMING, PERFORMANCES, AND RESIDENCIES, THE HIGHEST SINCE THE PANDEMIC. HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE PAST YEAR INCLUDE: DISTRIBUTING $97,380 IN SCHOLARSHIPS FOR OUR YOUTH AND ADULT PROGRAMS, SERVING OVER 11,000 PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, ACHIEVING SOLD-OUT STATUS FOR HALF OF THE SHOWS WE PRESENTED, PROVIDING RESIDENCIES TO 29 ARTISTS, AND WELCOMING 76 LOCAL YOUTH IN OUR 100% FREE SUMMER CAMP FOR 6 WEEKS (240 HOURS PER CHILD OF FREE HIGH-QUALITY ARTS EDUCATION). THE FOCUSED POPULATION FOR ALL OF OUR ENERGIZERS PROGRAMMING IS AFRICAN AMERICAN/BLACK AND BROWN YOUTH FROM LOW-INCOME FAMILIES FROM WARD 5. THESE ARE JUST A FEW ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT SPEAK TO DANCE PLACE'S COMMITMENT TO THE DANCE COMMUNITY AND FAMILIES. A SPECIAL COMMENDATION GOES TO OUR STAFF AND BOARD MEMBERS WHO WORK TO UPHOLD OUR MISSION OF INVESTING IN ARTISTS AND CENTERING ON THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN SYSTEMATICALLY EXCLUDED FROM THE DANCE FIELD.

PERFORMANCES AND PRESENTATIONS - DANCE PLACE OFFERS A YEAR-ROUND WEEKEND DANCE PERFORMING SERIES THAT PRESENTS MODERN DANCE, AFRICAN DANCE, TAP DANCE, PERFORMANCE ART, HIP HOP, AND SPOKEN WORD BY DC-BASED, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COMPANIES.
YOUTH EDUCATION - DANCE PLACE OFFERS CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS BOTH ON-SITE AND OFF-SITE FOR YOUTH, FAMILIES AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS. THE ENERGIZERS ON-SITE ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS PROVIDE CREATIVE EDUCATION AND JOB TRAINING THROUGH THE ARTS FOR LOCAL YOUTH.
ADULT PROGRAMS - DANCE PLACE'S SCHOOL OFFERS DANCE CLASSES FOR ADULTS IN A VARIETY OF DANCE FORMS FOR DANCERS AT ALL LEVELS. DANCE PLACE OFFERS WORK/STUDY AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS WHICH OFFER ASPIRING DANCERS AN OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE DANCE CLASSES FOR FREE. DANCE PLACE ALSO PROVIDES FREE/AFFORDABLE REHEARSAL SPACE FOR ARTISTS TO REHEARSE AND CREATE NEW WORKS.
