SUMMER PERFORMING ARTS INTENSIVES: IN JUNE-JULY 2021, YAA HELD TWO, 2-WEEK HYBRID (IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL) SESSIONS AT ITS 140-ACRE CAMPUS AT SANDY SPRING FRIENDS SCHOOL IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD, FOR 150 STUDENTS. PROGRAMMING INCLUDED ACTING, DANCE, VOICE, AND MUSIC THEORY CLASSES PLUS REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES OF "RENT," "CABARET," "MADAGASCAR JR., AND "LITTLE MERMAID JR."
PERFORMANCES: FALL - IN NOVEMBER, 100+ STUDENTS FROM YAACOMPANY, YAAORCHESTRA, AND YAAJUNIOR PERFORMED "JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT" AT THE CLARICE CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS, FOR AN AUDIENCE OF 750. SPRING - IN APRIL 2022, NEARLY 200 STUDENTS FROM YAACOMPANY, YAAORCHESTRA, YAAJUNIOR AND GUEST HIGH SCHOOL CHORUSES AND DANCE TROUPES FROM PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY PERFORMED ELTON JOHN AND TIM RICE'S "AIDA," A PROFESSIONALLY-PRODUCED, LARGE-SCALE COLLABORATIVE MUSICAL THEATRE PRODUCTION AT THE CONCERT HALL AT THE MUSIC CENTER AT STRATHMORE, WITH AN AUDIENCE OF 1200. ADDITIONALLY, IN MAY, YAAJUNIOR PERFORMED RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN'S "CINDERELLA" TO SOLD OUT AUDIENCES OF 500 AT AMP BY STRATHMORE.
