THE PRETRIAL JUSTICE INSTITUTE CONTINUES TO ADVANCE ITS MISSION AND THE GOALS OF ITS MAJOR PROGRAMS. SIGNIFICANT BODIES OF WORK INCLUDE:* MACARTHUR FOUNDATION SAFETY & JUSTICE CHALLENGE - PJI SERVES AS CONVENER FOR THE NETWORK MEETINGS AND HOSTED VIRTUAL CONVENINGS IN 2021 THAT BROUGHT HUNDREDS OF STAKEHOLDERS TOGETHER ON THE MISSION TO RETHINK JAILS AND REDUCE THEIR LOCAL JURISDICTIONS' JAIL POPULATION. PJI ALSO MANAGES SJC'S ONLINE COMMUNITY SJCEXCHANGE WHERE STAKEHOLDERS GATHER TO EXCHANGE IDEAS, SHARE BEST PRACTICES, AND BE IN COMMUNITY.* ANNIE E. CASEY FOUNDATION'S JUVENILE DETENTION ALTERNATIVES INITIATIVE - PJI CONTINUES TO MANAGE THE DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS OF JDAICONNECT, INCLUDING TECH SUPPORT, CONTENT CURATION, MEMBER ENGAGEMENT, AND EVENT PRODUCTION.* WITH SUPPORT FROM THE ART FOR JUSTICE FUND - PJI CONTINUES TO CHAMPION LOCAL AND STATE LEGISLATIVE, POLICY, AND CULTURAL REFORM EFFORTS TO EFFECT PRETRIAL CHANGE. PJI PROVIDES TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO JURISDICTIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. *EDUCATION & ENGAGEMENT -THROUGH THE CREATION AND DISSEMINATION OF TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS, COURSES AND EVENTS, PJI PROVIDES EDUCATION TO A VARIETY OF STAKEHOLDERS. THESE RESOURCES EQUIP STAKEHOLDERS WITH WITH RELEVANT, PERTINENT INFORMATION, DATA, AND ANALYSIS TO BUILD URGENCY, ADVOCACY AND KNOWLEDGE TO SUPPORT PRETRIAL REFORM. IN 2021, PJI PUBLISHED, WHAT IF, 10 QUESTIONS FOR SPARKING PRETRIAL CHANGE, AN INVITATION TO RETHINK OPTIONS FOR ENDING MASS INCARCERATION - WWW.PJI.PUB/WHATIF. PJI CONTINUES ITS INTERNAL DEVELOPMENT WORK TO DRAFT A NEW STRATEGIC PLAN AND THEORY OF CHANGE THAT CENTERS RACIAL EQUITY - A NON NEGOTIABLE COMPONENT OF PRETRIAL JUSTICE. PJI INTENDS TO COMPLETE THIS WORK AND COMPLETE AN ORGANIZATIONAL REBRAND AND RELAUNCH IN 2022.
