ASAFS PATIENTS RIGHTS PROJECT CREATES, PROTECTS, AND EXPANDS THE RIGHTS OF MEDICAL CANNABIS PATIENTS THROUGH DIRECT SUPPORT, EXTENSIVE MONITORING, PROACTIVE LETIGATION, EDUCATION, ORGANIZING ATTORNEYS, AND THE DRAFTING OF LEGISLATION. OUR LEGAL SUPPORT PROGRAM SERVED THOUSANDS OF PATIENTS VIA OUR TOLL FREE TELEPHONE LINE AND WEB BASED RESOURCES, INCLUDING EXTENSIVE FAQS AND A COMPREHENSIVE BRIEF BANK. WE ALSO PROVIDED COURT SUPPORT FOR MEDICAL CANNABIS DEFENDANTS IN SOME OF THE HIGHEST PROFILE MEDICAL CANNABIS CASES.

ASAF IS HELPING TO CREATE NEW PARTNERS IN THE FIGHT TO SECURE SAFE AND LEGAL ACCESS THROUGH PUBLIC EDUCATION, ATTENDING AND PRESENTING AT IMPORTANT HEALTH AND MEDICAL CONFERENCES, HOSTING FORUMS AND BRIEFINGS, AND THROUGH PROACTIVE MEDIA CAMPAIGNS. LITIGATION TO FORCE A CHANGE IN THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES POSITION ON MEDICAL CANNABIS UNDER THE DATA QUALITY ACT IS AN IMPORTANT FEDERAL COMPONENT OF THE PROJECT.
ASAF STATE CAMPAIGNS ARE DESIGNED TO MONITOR, IMPLEMENT, AND IMPROVE MEDICAL CANNABIS LAW IN STATES WHERE IT IS LEGAL THROUGH PROTECTION AND EXPANSION OF PATIENTS RIGHTS, USING EDUCATION, LITIGATION, LEGISLATION, GRASSROOTS ADVOCACY AND DIRECT SUPPORT. ASAF STATE CAMPAIGNS INCLUDE AN EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROGRAM TO CREATE A GRASSROOTS RESPONSE TO FEDERAL INTERFERENCE AND INTIMIDATION, DISTRIBUTION OF THOUSANDS OF PIECES OF EDUCATIONAL LITERATURE, PROVISION OF RESOURCES FOR COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS, AND AN AGGRESSIVE PROACTIVE AND REACTIVE MEDIA CAMPAIGN. STATE CAMPAIGNS HAVE SUCCEEDED IN EXPANDING THE NUMBER OF LEGAL MEDICAL CANNABIS PATIENTS, TURNING THE TIDE OF PUBLIC INDIFFERENCE ON THE ISSUE, AND CORRECTING MEDIA BIAS AND ERROR.
