FOUNDED IN 1965, THE GLENVIEW HISTORY CENTER'S MISSION IS TO PRE3SERVE THE CULTURAL HERITGE OF GLENVIEW BY PRESERVING THE HISTORIC 1864 FARMHOUSE AS A MUSEUM AND OPERATING THE HISTORY LIBRARY WITH ITS IMPRESSIVE COLLECTION OF HISTOIC DOCUMENTS RELATIVE TO THE COMMUNITY AND SURROUNDING REGION, THEREBY PROVIDING THE PUBLIC AN OPPORTUNITY TO BETTER APPRECIATE THE LIFESTYLE OF THE AREA'S EARLY SETTLERS AND/OR PURSUE AND/OR RESEARCH A TROVE OF HISTORICAL DATA ABOUT THE GREATER GLENVIEW/CHICAGO AREA

MAINTAIN THE 1864 FARMHOUSE MUSEUM WHICH WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ON A SCHEDULED BASIS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND BY APPOINTMENT, WHEN REQUESTED, PRIOR TO THE ONSET OF THE PANDEMIC IN MARCH. THE FARMHOUSE MUSEUM DISPLAYS FURNITURE, CLOTHING, PICTURES AND OTHER MEMORABILLIA FROM THE CIVIL WAR PERIOD THROUGH WORLD WAR II. THE MAJORITY OF THE ARTIFACTS ON DISPLAY HAVE BEEN DONATED BY LOCAL FAMILIES. ADMISSION IS FREE, DONARTIONS ARE ACCEPTED.


THE HIBBARD LIBRARY CONTAINS COLLECTIONS OF PHOTOGRAPHS, NEWSPAPERS, PERIODICALS, GENEALOGIES AND DOCUMENTS RELATED TO GLENVIEW'S FAMILIES, SCHOOLS, CHURCHES, BUSINESSES, GOVERNMENT AND BROADER COMMUNITY. THE LIBRARY ALSO CONTAINS SOME HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS FROM OR RELEVANT TO NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES AND THE GREATER CHICAGO AREA. THE LIBRARY WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ON A SCHEDULED BASIS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND BY APPOINTMENT, WHEN REQUESTED, PRIOR TO THE ONSET OF THE PANDEMIC IN MARCH. ADMISSION IS FREE, DONATIONS ARE ACCEPTED.
