RESEARCH AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS TO MEET NATIONAL AND REGIONAL ORGANIC NEEDS:ORGANIC VARIETY TRIALS, PLANT BREEDING PROJECTS AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS INFORMED AND ENHANCED ORGANIC SEED PRODUCTION AND VARIETY ADAPTATION THROUGH 22 PROJECTS SUPPORTED BY THE USDA, STATE AGENCIES AND PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS. THROUGH THESE PROJECTS, OSA ENGAGED OVER 70 FARMER COLLABORATORS TO TEST HUNDREDS OF VARIETIES WITHIN 17 MAJOR CROPS, IDENTIFYING RESILIENT AND FLAVORFUL CULTIVARS THAT THRIVE UNDER ORGANIC CONDITIONS. OSA CONDUCTED RESEARCH ON 330 VARIETIES OR POPULATIONS IN DEVELOPMENT AT OUR CHIMACUM RESEARCH FARM ALONE. PROGRAMS BENEFITTING THOUSANDS INCLUDED AN INTERACTIVE ONLINE SEED PRODUCTION AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAM AND A NATIONAL SURVEY OF ORGANIC PRODUCERS THAT DELIVERED CRITICAL SEED AND RESEARCH DATA.

ORGANIC WORLD CONGRESS SEED AMBASSADORS CONSORTIUM:OVER 130 PARTICIPANTS FROM 30 COUNTRIES GATHERED FOR THIS TWO-DAY SYMPOSIUM FOCUSED ON SEED, PART OF THE ORGANIC WORLD CONGRESS HOSTED IN RENNES, FRANCE. THE AIM OF THE EVENT WAS TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS AND EXCHANGE KNOWLEDGE WITHIN THE ORGANIC SEED AND PLANT BREEDING COMMUNITY TO ENSURE CROP DIVERSITY AND MAXIMUM BENEFIT TO ORGANIC AND ECOLOGICAL AGRICULTURE. OSA HOSTED ONLINE PROGRAMMING DURING THIS HYBRID EVENT AND SUPPORTED THE PARTICIPATION OF 15 SEED GROWERS FROM LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES.
