PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR HOSPITALITY SERVICE EMPLOYEES THROUGH COVID-19 RELIEF GRANT PROGRAMS ESTABLISHED BY THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF GREATER MEMPHIS AND THE CITY OF MEMPHIS. THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY WAS ONE OF THE MOST IMPACTED INDUSTRIES FROM THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. IN FISCAL YEAR END 2021, THE ORGANIZATION AWARDED 3,269 GRANTS FOR HOSPITALITY SERVICE EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE BEEN TERMINATED OR FURLOUGHED.
PROMOTING A NEW STANDARD OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RAISING EXPECTATIONS OF HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM PROFESSIONALS BY SUPPORTING THEM IN THEIR INTERACTIONS WITH VISITORS ACROSS THE MEMPHIS AREA. WELCOME TO MEMPHIS PROVIDES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS FOR PEOPLE WHO INTERACT WITH VISITORS - AKA "FIRST IMPRESSION" PROFESSIONALS. THESE CLASSES INCREASE PARTICIPANTS' CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AND DESTINATION KNOWLEDGE.
RECOGNIZING PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE BY HONORING GUEST-CONTACT EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND AT THE FOUNDATION'S ANNUAL PICK AWARDS EVENT. GREAT SERVICE IS RECOGNIZED WEEKLY ON SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS AS WELL. THIS PROGRAM WAS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC SO THAT ALL RESOURCES COULD BE USED FOR COVID-19 RELATED GRANTS TO HOSPITALITY EMPLOYEES.
