THE OZ MUSEUM/COLUMBIAN THEATRE FOUNDATION EXISTS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY AND TO ENRICH THE LIVES OF BOTH AREA RESIDENTS AND VISITORS.

FRANK BAUM THE AUTHOR OF THE WIZARD OF OZ WAS INFLUENCED BY HIS VISIT TO THE 1983 COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION IN CHICAGO. THE OZ MUSEUM SHOWS AND EDUCATES VISITORS WITH EXHIBITS OF ARTIFACTS FROM THE MOVIE AND MEMORABILIA PROVIDED BY LOCAL COLLECTORS. THE MUSEUM RECEIVED OVER 36000 VISITORS.


THE THEATER PROGRAM PRESENTED SIX ADULT PRODUCTIONS, FIVE YOUTH PRODUCTIONS, 3 CONCERTS, 1 FESTIVAL ANF NUMEROUS OTHER EVENTS. APPROXIMATELY 200 CAST AND CREW MEMBERS AND 5000 VISITORS PARTICIPATED.


THE THEATER BUILDING IS ALSO USED FOR COMMUNITY MEETINGS AND EVENTS BY CIVIC AND PRIVATE GROUPS. VISITORS TOUR THE HISTORICAL THEATER VIEWING THE MURALS FROM THE 1893 EXPOSITION AND DISPLAYS OF LOCAL ART. EDUCATIONAL TOURS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS ARE PROVIDED.
