MUSEUM/DISPLAYS CONSTRUCTION & REPAIR: REPLACED/EXTENDED PADS AND CONSTRUCTED COVERS OVER NINE OUTSIDE EQUIPMENT EXHIBITS. OBTAINED AND RESTORED M2T4 LIGHT UTILITY VEHICLE (MECHANICAL MULE) AND M72 BMW RUSSIAN MOTORCYCLE WITH SIDE CAR AND PLACED ON EXHIBIT. REFURBISHED AND RE-PAINTED M998 HUMMER AND REPLACED ON EXHIBIT. BEGAN RESTORATION/PAINTING OF M1L4 ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIER. ORDERED L3 NEW EXHIBIT CASES FOR THE 35TH DIVISION MUSEUM AND THREE TOUCH SCREEN EXHIBITS TO BEGIN UPDATING OF THE 35TH DIVISION MUSEUM. UPDATED "AIRCRAFT OF THE KANSAS AIR NATIONAL GUARD" EXHIBIT, THE "TROOP TRAINS" EXHIBIT, AND SEVERAL WORLD WAR II EXHIBITS. ESTABLISHED TWO FLIGHT SIMULATORS FOR USE BY VISITORS. ACCESSIONED 53 ARTIFACTS AND ARTIFACT COLLECTIONS, ADDED 22 DOCUMENT FILES AND DOCUMENT BOXES TO THE MUSEUM LIBRARY, CATALOGED AND FILED 43 ADDITIONAL LIBRARY BOOKS AND CD'S, PLACED SEVERAL NEW PRINTS ON EXHIBIT, AND MADE MINOR IMPROVEMENTS TO MANY EXHIBITS. REORGANIZED, SORTED, AND RE-STORED MANY OF THE ARTIFACTS IN BASEMENT STORAGE. TRANSFERRED ALL FEDERAL ARTIFACTS FROM CENTER FOR MILITARY HISTORY ACCOUNTABILITY TO MUSEUM ACCOUNTABILITY.
MUSEUM OPERATIONS AND ATTENDANCE:THE MUSEUM OF THE KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD HOSTED 17,680 VISITORS WHO SIGNED THE VISITORREGISTER, AND SEVERAL HUNDRED OTHERS WHO DID NOT SIGN THE REGISTER, DURING THE YEAR FROM 46 STATESAND 8 FOREIGN COUNTRIES, UTILIZING VOLUNTEER HOSTS. THE MUSEUM WAS OPEN 308 DAYS FROM 10A.M. UNTIL 4 P.M. FOR ROUTINE VISITOR HOURS AND 28 ADDITIONAL TIMES FOR EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES FOR ATOTAL OF 1896 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER HOST LABOR. THE MUSEUM HAS NO ADMISSION CHARGE, BUT ACCEPTSVOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS. THE MUSEUM ANSWERED 142 INTERNET, PERSONAL, AND TELEPHONE HISTORICAL INQUIRIES PERTAINING TO MILITARY SERVICE, UNIT HISTORIES, INSIGNIA, PHOTOS, ETC.THE MUSEUM SERVES AS THE LOCATION FOR THE KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD HALL OF FAME AND THE35TH DIVISION HALL OF FAME.THE MUSEUM LIBRARIES AND ARCHIVES CONTINUE TO SERVE AS RESEARCH CENTERS FOR SOLDIERAND UNIT HISTORY.THE MUSEUM HOSTS AN UPDATED WEBSITE AT WWW.KANSASGUARDMUSEUM.ORG, WHICHPROVIDES A HISTORY AND VIRTUAL TOUR OF THE KANSAS ARMY AND AIR NATIONAL GUARD EXHIBITS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE MUSEUM, AS WELL AS A MUSEUM FACEBOOK PAGE. THE MUSEUM PROVIDED TOURS FOR 23 SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY GROUPS. MUSEUM STAFF PROVIDED SPEAKERS FOR FOUR COMMUNITY GROUP MEETINGS.
