MUSIC THEATRE WICHITA IS DEDICATED TO STIMULATING AND NURTURING INTEREST IN MUSICAL THEATRE BY PRODUCING AND/OR PRESENTING BROADWAY QUALITY PRODUCTIONS WHILE ENTERTAINING AND EDUCATING PATRONS, THE COMMUNITY AND THEATRICAL ARTISTS

MTWICHITA'S 2021 FISCAL YEAR WAS CHALLENGING, WITH HALLMARKS INCLUDING: ONGOING CHALLENGES OF PRODUCING DURING A PANDEMIC: COSTS OF PRODUCING WERE HIGHER, INCOME POTENTIAL WAS LOWER, AND COVID RESTRICTIONS AND PROTOCOLS BROUGHT PREVIOUSLY UNHEARD OF CHALLENGES FOR STAFF. MAJOR CHANGES TO STAFFING, A COMBINATION OF PLANNED LEADERSHIP CHANGES, COVID-ERA JOB CHANGES, AND ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS EVOLVING. THE PANDEMIC HIGHLIGHTING MANY AREAS THAT PREVIOUSLY NEEDED INVESTMENT, SUCH AS A NEW CRM FOR MANAGING PATRON INFORMATION, UPGRADED WEBSITE FEATURES, AND INCREASED COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. IN NOVEMBER, THE SEASON CONCLUDED WITH THE NEW COMMUNITY-FOCUSED MUSICAL TWELFTH NIGHT. CENTURY II CONVENTION HALL; SIX PERFORMANCES; 6,126 ATTENDED.OTHER INITIATIVES AND HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED: CHANGE OF THE FISCAL YEAR TO ALIGN WITH THE CALENDAR YEAR.ADDITION OF STAFF, RECALIBRATE STAFF DUTIES, AND POSITION THE ORGANIZATION FOR GROWTH.PLANS FOR STAFF TRAINING, REVIEWING AND UPDATING POLICIES, AND MORE SET INTO MOTION.
