PARENT VOLUNTEER BOARD TO FUNDRAISE IN ORDER TO SUPPORT ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS AT MADERA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSES OF THIS CORPORATION IS TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO MADERA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN THE CITY OF EL CERRITO, COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA. THE PURPOSE OF THE CORPORATION IS TO SUPPORT MADERA ELEMENTARY'S EDUCATIONAL MISSION FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE STUDENTS ATTENDING MADERA ELEMENTARY. THE ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES THAT THE CORPORATION MAY FUND, MAY INCLUDE BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING: ART PROGRAM, BAND PROGRAM, MUSIC PROGRAM, COMPUTER LAB AND TECHNOLOGY LEARNING, PHYSICAL EDUCATION, GARDEN PROGRAM, CLASSROOM WORKSHOPS, FIELD TRIPS, PUBERTY EDUCATION, LIBRARY BOOKS AND CLASSROOM AND OFFICE SUPPLIES.

MADERA ELEMENTARY'S SCHOOL GARDEN BEGAN IN 2007 WITH A LOT OFBACKBREAKING LABOR AND A SHARED VISION OF HOW A GARDEN COULD IMPACTSTUDENT UNDERSTANDING OF NATURAL CYCLES, AGRICULTURE, AND NUTRITION.SINCE THEN IT HAS GROWN THANKS TO THE SUPPORT OF THE STUDENTS, STAFF,AND FAMILIES. THE GARDEN CURRENTLY FOCUSES ON GROWING CROPS FOR THESTUDENTS TO STUDY, TAKE CARE OF, AND ULTIMATELY CONSUME. OVER THEYEARS WE HAVE PLANTED FRUIT TREES, BERRY VINES, HERBS, FLOWERINGPLANTS, AND ALL MANNER OF VEGETABLES


MUSIC FOR MINORS PROVIDED MUSIC EDUCATION TO STUDENTS OF ALL AGES AT MADERA. MUSIC FOR MINORS IS A WONDERFUL ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO PROVIDE BAY AREA STUDENTS OF DIVERSE CULTURAL AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC BACKGROUNDS A COMPREHENSIVE MUSIC EDUCATION. THE MUSIC PROGRAM INCLUDED VOCAL EXERCISES, RECORDERS, AND MUSICAL THEORY.


SIXTH GRADE STUDENTS, ALONG WITH PARENT AND TEACHER CHAPERONES,PARTICIPATE IN A WEEK LONG OUTDOOR SCIENCE CAMP AT ALLIANCE REDWOODSCONFERENCE GROUNDS LOCATED IN BEAUTIFUL OCCIDENTAL, CA. STUDENTS GETTO APPLY SUBJECTS THEY LEARNED IN CLASS WITH HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE ANDALSO HAVE SOME FUN WITH THEIR CLASS WITH ACTIVITIES SUCH AS ZIPLINING.
