PRODUCE PERKS MIDWESTS MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES BY INCREASING AFFORDABLE ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOODS. OUR WORK INCREASES ACCESSIBILITY, AFFORDABILITY, PURCHASING AND CONSUMPTION OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES FOR VULNERABLE, LOW-INCOME CONSUMERS AND INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING NUTRITION, DIET-RELATED ILLNESS AND CHRONIC DISEASE AND LOW-INCOME, FOOD INSECURE PREGNANT WOMEN; WHILE STRENGTHENING LOCAL ECONOMIES AND SUPPORTING LOCAL/REGIONAL FARMERS, DIRECT-MARKET PRODUCERS AND RETAILERS. PRODUCE PERKS MIDWEST SERVES AS OHIO'S LEAD AGENCY ADMINISTERING NUTRITION INCENTIVE PROGRAMMING STATEWIDE. OUR NUTRITION INCENTIVE PROGRAMMING (PRODUCE PERKS, PRODUCE PRESCRIPTION - PRX) IS EVIDENCE-BASED AND NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED FOR CREATING ON-THE GROUND IMPACT IN THE DAILY LIVES OF THOSE WE SERVE. IN 2021, OUR PROGRAMMING WAS OPERATIONAL AT 100+ LOCATIONS STATEWIDE, GENERATING OVER $2 MILLION IN HEALTHY FOOD PURCHASES AND EMPOWERING OHIO'S SNAP1 AND P-EBT2 BENEFICIARIES, TANF3 ELIGIBLE HOUSEHOLDS AND FOOD INSECURE PATIENTS TO PURCHASE HEALTHY FOODS BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL INCENTIVES. THESE DOLLARS ARE GOING DIRECTLY INTO LOCAL FOOD ECONOMIES, SUPPORTING LOCAL, SMALL-SCALE SPECIALTY CROP PRODUCERS AND SMALL-BUSINESS MARKET RETAILERS ACROSS OHIO - ALL WHILE HELPING STRUGGLING OHIOANS PUT HEALTHY FOOD ON THE TABLE.
