WAGS AND WHISKERS PET RESCUE IS A 501(C)(3) NON-PROFIT ALL BREED, NO KILL, ANIMAL RESCUE ORGANIZATION, INCORPORATED IN AUGUST 2015. WE ARE A VOLUNTEER DRIVEN GROUP WITH A NUMBER YEARS EXPERIENCE WITH ANIMALS AND RESCUE. OUR MISSION IS TO RESCUE, FOSTER, REHABILITATE AND REHOME, ABANDONED, ABUSED AND UNWANTED ANIMALS IN WILLOWS AND CHICO, CALIFORNIA. WE RESCUE ANIMALS AT RISK OF EUTHANASIA IN SHELTERS, AS WELL AS THOSE SURRENDERED BY THEIR OWNERS BECAUSE OF DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES, AND THOSE IN DANGER OF ABUSE OR NEGLECT. WE ARE COMMITTED TO HELPING THE MOST NEEDY, AS WELL AS THE READILY ADOPTABLE.

WAGS AND WHISKERS PET RESCUE COMPLETED 1,958 ADOPTIONS IN 2020. THERE WERE 1,753 DOG ADOPTIONS AND 205 CAT ADOPTIONS. DURING 2020, WAGS AND WHISKERS PET RESCUE HAD TO STEP BACK AND SEE HOW THE RESCUE COULD BEST SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY DURING THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN. WAGS AND WHISKERS CONTINUED TO OFFER LOW COST VET SERVICES TO THOSE WHOSE JOBS WERE IMPACTED AND BOARDED ANIMALS FOR FAMILIES THAT WERE TEMPORARILY DISPLACED FROM THEIR HOUSING. THE RESCUE OFFERED DISCOUNTED VET SERVICES TO OTHER RESCUES THAT WERE AFFECTED BY THE LOCKDOWN. WAGS AND WHISKERS HAD A PET FOOD PANTRY TO DONATE PET FOOD TO THOSE IN NEED. WAGS AND WHISKERS COORDINATED WITH THE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTERS THAT WERE SEVERELY AFFECTED BY OVERCROWDING BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT BE OPEN FOR ADOPTIONS AND NOT ENOUGH EMPLOYEES / VOLUNTEERS BUT THERE WERE STILL ANIMALS THAT NEEDED HOMES. WAGS AND WHISKERS PULLED AS MANY PETS AS POSSIBLE AND BROUGHT THEM TO OUR FACILITY AND INTO FOSTER HOMES TO GET ADOPTED. WAGS AND WHISKERS WAS NOT ABLE TO HOLD ADOPTION EVENTS FOR MOST OF THE YEAR AND PIVOTED TO DOING MOSTLY ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATIONS, MEET AND GREETS BY ZOOM AND DEPENDED MORE THAN EVER ON SOCIAL MEDIA TO FACILITATE ADOPTIONS.THROUGHOUT 2020, WAGS AND WHISKERS COMPLETED 1,050 SPAY SURGERIES AND 892 NEUTER SURGERIES, HELPING TO SLOW THE OVERPOPULATION OF CATS AND DOGS IN BUTTE COUNTY.
