D.N.A. (DEVELOPING NOBLEMEN ACADEMY) LAUNCHED OUR URBAN FARMING INITIATIVE TO COMPLEMENT OUR HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAM. THE YOUNG MEN IN THE ORGANIZATION WERE EDUCATED ON CHILDHOOD OBESITY AND DISEASES CAUSED BY POOR NUTRITION, AS WELL AS SUBSISTENCE, WHOLE FOOD NUTRITION, AND ORGANIC GROWING PRACTICES. THE URBAN FARMING INITIATIVE INTENDS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH, WELL-BEING, AND FUTURE SUCCESS POTENTIAL FOR INNER-CITY MINORITY YOUTH THROUGH A PROGRAM THAT WILL INFORM AND EMPOWER YOUTH TO ERADICATE UNHEALTHY EATING HABITS. IN ADDITION, DNA WILL BE ABLE TO GROW PLENTY OF FOOD IN 2023 TO ADDRESS FOOD SCARCITIES IN OUR COMMUNITIES. THE GOAL IS TO CONTINUE TO HELP FEED HUNDREDS IN NEED YEAR OVER YEAR. CODING & ROBOTICS CONNECTING OUR BOYS TO COUNTLESS OPPORTUNITIES IS IN OUR DNA. THROUGHOUT 2022, OUR YOUNG MEN ATTENDED BOTH CODE AND ROBOTICS CAMPS. THIS OPPORTUNITY WAS MADE POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF OUR DONORS AND STRATEGIC FUNDRAISING INITIATIVES. OUR ORGANIZATION WAS ABLE TO PARTNER WITH IDTECH, CODING FOR KIDS, AND FIRST ROBOTICS TO SEND OVER 30 YOUNG BOYS TO CAMP. THESE ENRICHMENT WORKSHOPS FOCUSED ON PROVIDING A SOLID UNDERSTANDING OF PROGRAMMING AND ENGINEERING THROUGH THE USE OF ROBOTICS, GAMING, AND MORE. CODING FOR KIDS NOT ONLY HELPED IMPROVE THEIR MATHEMATICS AND WRITING SKILLS BUT ALSO GAVE OUR BOYS VALUABLE SKILLS IN LIFE AND WILL EVENTUALLY HELP THEM IN THE WORKFORCE. NOBLEMEN SUMMER CAMP OVER THE SUMMER BREAK, OUR YOUNG MEN HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND OUR 3RD ANNUAL NOBLEMEN CAMP. THE MENTEES WERE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN A VARIETY OF WORKSHOPS SUCH AS FINANCIAL PLANNING, ANGER MANAGEMENT, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, ETIQUETTE, AND PERSONAL GROOMING. THEY ALSO HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN TEAM-BUILDING ACTIVITIES SUCH AS SCAVENGER HUNTS, TRIATHLONS, AND WALL CLIMBING COMPETITIONS. THIS CAMP HELPED OUR BOYS BECOME MORE INDEPENDENT AND SELF-CONFIDENT WHILE SOCIALIZING AND MAKING NEW FRIENDS.
