PARTNERS IN YOUTH OPPORTUNITY IS A MULTI-YEAR, MULTI-SERVICE PROGRAM SERVING STUDENTS STARTING AS EARLY AS 8TH GRADE FROM DURHAM COUNTY, NC. WE FOLLOW OUR STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THEIR FIRST YEAR OF COLLEGE. WE CHOOSE OUR STUDENTS BASED ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: -QUALIFY FOR FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH -ARE FIRST GENERATION IMMIGRANTS -HAVE FAMILY MEMBERS PREVIOUSLY OR CURRENTLY INCARCERATED WE PROVIDE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, ACADEMIC SUPPORT, COMMUNITY-BASED MENTORING AND OPPORTUNITIES TO CONNECT WITH MENTORS. IN FY20, PYO SERVED 122 INDIVIDUAL YOUTH IN MULTIPLE COMPONENTS OF OUR SERVICES. EVALUATION RESULTS INCLUDE: - HIGH SCHOOL ON-TIME GRADUATION RATES, WITH WORK-BASED LEARNING:98% OF PYO STUDENTS GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL ON TIME, AND NO PYO STUDENT HAS DROPPED OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL. 90% OF ALL PYO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN AT LEAST ONE PAID INTERNSHIP BEFORE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION. - LOW-DEBT POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION ENROLLMENT AND PERSISTENCE: 95% OF PYO YOUTH ENROLL IN POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION, AND 66% OF THOSE STUDENTS ARE PERSISTING IN POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION (WHICH OUTPERFORMS THE NATIONAL AVERAGE FOR STUDENTS OF THEIR SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS BY 600%) AND 70% OF THESE STUDENTS ARE ON TRACK TO GRADUATE WITH LESS THAN $10,000 IN DEBT.
