THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION IS TO SUPPORT PROJECTS THAT PROMOTE SOUND AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES, GROWTH IN AGRIBUSINESS AND AGRITOURISM, INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURAL EXPORTS, URBAN AGRICULTURE, FOOD SAFETY, FARM SAFETY PRACTICES, YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION.

THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS PROJECTS THAT SUPPORT AND PROMOTE SOUND AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES, GROWTH IN AGRIBUSINESS AND AGRITOURISM, INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURAL EXPORTS, URBAN AGRICULTURE, FOOD SAFETY, FARM SAFETY PRACTICES, YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION.CURRENT ACTIVITIES INCLUDE MISSOURI BEEF INITIATIVE. THE FOUNDATION IS PROVIDING GRANTS TO FUND UNIVERSITY BEEF RESEARCH UTILIZING COVERED FEEDING FACILITIES; DEVELOPMENT OF A PROGRAM TO TEST REPLACEMENT HEIFERS AND/OR BULLS FOR FESCUE TOLERANCE; DEVELOPMENT OF A PROGRAM TO REWARD INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR ADDING VALUE TO MISSOURI'S BEEF INDUSTRY; AND DEVELOPMENT OF A PROGRAM TO FINANCIALLY SUPPORT SMALL BEEF PROCESSORS TO MODERNIZE AND TO PROMOTE THE PROCESSING AND MARKETING OF MORE MISSOURI BEEF PRODUCTS.FUNDING FOR THE MISSOURI BEEF INITIATIVE WAS APPROPRIATED BY THE 97TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY, SECOND REGULAR SESSION, BY HOUSE BILL 2007, SECTION 7.030 FOR GRANTS TO NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO CONDUCT APPLIED RESEARCH AND/OR COMMERCIALIZE RESEARCH RELATED TO THE BEEF CATTLE INDUSTRY. THE FUNDS WERE RECEIVED AND HELD BY THE MISSOURI TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONS.THE FOUNDATION WILL ALSO BE MAKING GRANTS TO ORGANIZATIONS COMMITTING TO USE SUCH PROCEEDS TO FUND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS IN PUBLIC FACILITIES WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO SUPPORT, PROMOTE AND/OR PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING AND TOURISM VENUES FOR MISSOURI AGRICULTURE. A COMMITTEE WILL BE FORMED AND WILL MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE FOUNDATION FOR THE USE OF THESE FUNDS. FUNDING FOR THIS AGRICULTURE EDUCATION AND TOURISM PROJECT IS RECEIVED FROM ANOTHER BRANCH OF MISSOURI GOVERNMENT, THE MISSOURI AGRICULTURAL SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY.GRANT AGREEMENTS FOR THE MISSOURI BEEF INITIATIVE ARE CURRENTLY BEING DRAFTED FOR THE AWARDED PROJECTS. THE FOUNDATION HELD ITS FIRST MISSOURI AGRICULTURAL FOUNDATION KICK-OFF EVENT DECEMBER 2015.
