PRACTICAL FARMERS OF IOWA WORKED WITH 48 FARMERS TO CONDUCT OVER 78 ON-FARM RESEARCH AND DOMNSTRATION PROJECTS ON CONVENTIONAL AND ORGANIC ROW CROP OPERATIONS, HORTICULTURAL FARMS, AND GRAZING SYSTEMS. THESE RESEARCH PROJECTS HELP FARMERS DIRECTLY ANSWER THE QUESTIONS THAT THEY HAVE ABOUT THEIR FARMS, AND THEY OFFER OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN FROM OTHER'S EXPERIENCES. 2) PRACTICAL FARMERS OF IOWA ALSO HOSTS APPROXIMATELY 218 FIELD DAYS, WORKSHOPS, WEBINARS, AND OTHER OUTREACH EVENTS EVERY YEAR, WITH UPWARDS OF 5,166 PEOPLE ATTENDING THESE EVENTS IN THIS TIME PERIOD. 3) PFI FACILITATES COST-SHARE PROGRAMS TO REDUCE BARRIERS FARMERS FACE IN MAKING CHANGES ON THEIR FARMS. AS A RESULT OF FARMER-LED RESEARCH, EDUCATION AND PROGRAMS TO REDUCE BARRIERS TO MEET THEIR GOALS, FARMERS IN IOWA AND ACROSS THE MIDWEST ARE MAKING CHANGES IN THEIR OPERATIONS TO INCREASE THEIR PROFITABILITY, EFFICIENCY, AND STEWARDSHIP.
