OUR MISSION IS TO BUILD ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMIC JUSTICE AND IMPROVE HEALTH IN LOW INCOME COMMUNITIES BY ORGANIZING, EDUCATING, CHANGING POLICIES AND BUILDING JUST AND EQUITABLE PROGRAMS.

WE BEGAN CONSTRUCTION ON OUR ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINING AND SUSTAINABLE CENTER AND FOOD PROGRAM IN BRITTONS NECK, SC ON 7.5 ACRES OF WETLAND. THE COMPLETED CENTER WILL PROVIDE TRAINING TO PEOPLE ON HOW TO GROW FOOD IN A GARDEN FOR SMALL-SCALE AGRICULTURAL BUSINESS, GROW INDIGENOUS PLANTS FOR RESIDENTS AND PROPERTIES WHERE FLOODING BEGIN AND TO RESTORE THE WILDLIFE ECOSYSTEM. THE CENTER WILL ALSO HAVE 10 OFF-GRID AIR-TO-WATER GENERATORS, GREENHOUSES, AND STORAGE FACILITIES FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION. ALONE WITH OVER 50 VOLUNTEERS, WE PLANTED OVER1000 INDIGENOUS TREES SUCH AS: DOGWOOD AND RED OAK. THESE TREES WILL PROVIDE RESILIENCY BY CREATING A GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE TO RESTORE THE WETLANDS IN BRITTONS NECK AND OTHER NEARBY AREAS WE CONTINUED OUR FOREST PROGRAM IN MARION, SC AND DISTRIBUTED OVER 3000 EDUCATIONAL DOCUMENTS TO COMMUNITIES AND HAVE ESTABLISHED AND HELD MONTHLY COMMUNITY MEETINGS THAT ARE OPENED TO THE PUBLIC. WE HAVE NOTIFIED OVER 1000 PEOPLE EACH MONTH VIA SOCIAL MEDIA, ASSORTMENT OF FLYERS THAT WE PLACE IN STORES, BUSINESS AND HANDOUTS TO PASSERBYS WE ARE HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN GETTING OVER 40 ATTENDEES EVERY MONTH.
WE CONDUCTED OUR FOOD PROGRAM THIS YEAR THAT PROVIDED, FRESH PRODUCE TO 10 DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES OF OVER 1500 PERSONS EACH MONTH IN THE PEE DEE REGION IN SOUTH CAROLINA, SUCH AS: DARLINGTON. DILLION, FLORENCE, MARION, MARLBORO, CHESTERFIELD AND ORANGEBURG. WE HELD A MONTHLY WEBINAR TITLED "SURVIVING TO THRIVING" OVER 600 PEOPLE BENEFITED ON OUR WEBINAR, WE HAD MEDICAL AND PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS WHO DEALT WITH ISSUES SUCH AS: COIVID-19, HYPERTENSION, DIABETES, RESPIRATORY, CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES, SICKLE CELL, DIET AND GOOD NUTRITION, YOGA AND MEDITATION, ETC. WE PROVIDED EQUIPMENT SUCH AS: BLOOD PRESSURE KITS, DIABETES TESTING MONITORS, PEAK FLOW MONITORS, DIGITAL THERMOMETERS AND OTHER HEALTH EQUIPMENT AS REQUESTED BY THE PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS. UP TO 500 PERSONS RECEIVED SOME BENEFIT FROM THE INFORMATION AND SERVICES THAT WERE PROVIDED.
WE COMPLETED A STUDY AND ASSESSED MAPPING TO DETERMINE THE NEED OF EJ COMMUNITY IN THE CITY OF FLORENCE, SC FOR AFFORDABLE ELECTRIC VEHICLE AND CHARGING STATION. SO THAT ELECTRIC BIKE SHARE A RIDE PROGRAM COULD BE ESTABLISHED IN THE CITY OF FLORENCE ALONG WITH ELECTRIC CHARGING STATIONS. SO THAT LOW INCOME RESIDENCE WOULD BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE TECHNOLOGY AND HAVE AN INCENTIVE TO PURCHASE AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE AS THEY BECOME MORE AFFORDABLE. WE MET 40 ORGANIZATIONS VIA ZOOM ON 6 OCCASIONS TO DISCUSS THE ENERGY BURDENS ON PEOPLE OF COLOR AND LOW INCOME COMMUNITIES, IN ORDER TO FIND SOLUTIONS SUCH AS: PAID PERCENTAGE INCOME POWER PLAN. THE PLAN WOULD LIMIT A PERSON'S UTILITY COST TO PERCENTAGE OF INCOME WHICH IS ESPECIALLY BENEFICIAL TO FAMILIES LIVING IN POVERTY WE IDENTIFIED TWO LOCATIONS ONE IN FLORENCE, SC AND ONE IN BRITTONS NECK, SC TO INSTALL ELECTRIC CHARGING STATION. WE ALSO COMPLETED TWO APPS THAT ARE INSTALLED ON SOCIAL MEDIA, PHONES, IPOD AND LAPTOPS THAT SHOW DATA AND STATISTICS ON THE ENERGY BURDEN THROUGHOUT SOUTH CAROLINA AND THE CLIMATE IMPACT IN BRITTONS NECK, SC COMMUNITY.
