Part 3 - Line 1

WARM WINTERS IS A YOUTH VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION THAT COLLECTS USED CLOTHING, NEW SOCKS, AND TOLETRIES FOR THE HOMELESS. WE TRAIN YOUTH TO COLLECT THE UNCLAIMED LOST & FOUND CLOTHING FROM SKI RESORTS, AND TO RUN SOCK AND TOILETRY COLLECTION DRIVES, THEN BRING THESE ITEMS TO HOMELESS SHELTER IN THEIR COMMUNITIES.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

WARM WINTER'S MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF PEOPLE IN AMERICA AFFECTED BY HOMELESSNESS BY PROVIDING WARM CLOTHING, CLEAN SOCKS AND PERSONAL CARE ITEMS TO SHIELD THEM FROM THE COLD IN THE WINTER. BY REMOVING AN ISSUE FROM THEIR LIVES, THEY CAN FOCUS ON OVERCOMING HOMELESSNESS RATHER THAN FOCUSING ON TRYING TO STAY WARM AND SURVIVE ANOTHER NIGHT. YOUTH FOUNDED AND YOUTH DRIVEN, WE HARNESS THE POWER OF YOUTH TO PROVIDE THESE ITEMS.WE FURTHER OUR PURPOSES UNDER THIS PROGRAM BY CONDUCTING THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES:WE PICK UP THE UNCLAIMED LOST AND FOUND CLOTHING FROM SKI RESORTS, THEN WASH, SORT THEM, AND BRING THEM TO HOMELESS SHELTERS. MOST SKI RESORTS HAVE A LARGE AMOUNT OF UNCLAIMED LOST AND FOUND CLOTHING EACH SKI SEASON, AND DISPOSING OF IT IS ALWAYS AN ISSUE. WE TRAIN OUR YOUTH VOLUNTEERS, WHO ARE USUALLY MEMBERS OF A SKI-RACE TEAM THAT PRACTICES AT THE RESORT, TO PARTNER WITH THE SKI RESORT, PICK UP THE UNCLAIMED CLOTHING, CLEAN, SORT IT, AND DELIVER IT TO HOMELESS SHELTERS IN THEIR AREA. TO DATE, WE HAVE DONATED 68,000 ITEMS OF WARM CLOTHING TO APPROXIMATELY 48,000 HOMELESS PEOPLE ACROSS THE USA. 100% OF THE ITEMS GO TO HOMELESS AND IMPOVERISHED PEOPLE.WE COLLECT AND PACKAGE PERSONAL CARE ITEMS INTO GIFT BAGS FOR HOMELESS TEENS AND ADULTS AT SHELTERS. HOMELESS PEOPLE OFTEN LACK ACCESS TO PERSONAL CARE ITEMS SUCH AS SOAP, SHAMPOO, LOTION AND FEMININE HYGIENE PRODUCTS. WE SOLICIT DONATIONS OF PERSONAL CARE ITEMS FROM COMPANIES THAT PRODUCE AND SELL THEM, AND OUR YOUTH VOLUNTEERS ALSO DO TOILETRY DRIVES AT THEIR SCHOOLS, CHURCHES AND COMMUNITY CENTERS. OUR YOUTH VOLUNTEERS THEN MAKE GIFT BAGS OF THESE ITEMS, AND BRING THEM TO HOMELESS SHELTERS FOR TEENS AND ADULTS. TO DATE, WE HAVE DONATED 22,740 TOILETRY ITEMS TO THE HOMELESS. 100% OF THE DONATED ITEMS GO TO HOMELESS AND IMPOVERISHED TEENS AND ADULTS.WE COLLECT NEW SOCKS FOR HOMELESS ADULTS AND YOUTH AT SHELTERS. SOCKS ARE THE #1 MOST REQUESTED ITEM AT EVERY HOMELESS SHELTER, YET ARE THE LEAST DONATED CLOTHING ITEM. OUR YOUTH VOLUNTEERS CONDUCT SOCK DRIVES AT THEIR SCHOOLS, CHURCHES AND COMMUNITY CENTERS, AND DELIVER THE SOCKS TO HOMELESS SHELTERS. TO DATE, WE HAVE DONATED 18,000 NEW PAIRS OF SOCKS TO THE HOMELESS. 100% OF THE DONATED ITEMS GO TO HOMELESS AND IMPOVERISHED PEOPLE.OUR ACTIVITIES ARE CONDUCTED BY YOUTH VOLUNTEERS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY, SUPERVISED BY PARENTS AND OTHER ADULTS. THE OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS OF THE ORGANIZATION OVERSEE AND HELP COORDINATE THE VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES OF THE YOUTH. TO DATE, WE HAVE ENGAGED 400 YOUTH VOLUNTEERS IN OUR CAUSE. CONFIDENT THAT TODAY'S YOUTH ARE CAPABLE OF INCREDIBLE ACTS OF KINDNESS, WE ARE COMMITTED TO CHANGING THEIR LIVES AND THE LIVES OF THE HOMELESS THEY SERVE. THROUGH THE SUCCESSFUL EXECUTION OF OUR PROGRAM, WE FURTHER OUR CHARITABLE PURPOSES.
