THE DAY AND WORK SERVICES PROVIDES A WIDE VARIETY OF LEARNING, WORK AND RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO PEOPLE WITH VARIED ABILITIES. ADULT DAY/COMMUNITY PROGRAMS OFFER SCHEDULING CHOICES OF ACTIVITIES BOTH COMMUNITY BASED AND FACILITY BASED. SOME EXAMPLES OF ACTIVITIES INCLUDE VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES AT THE LOCAL NURSING HOME, PARTNERING WITH THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES AND CLEANING AREA PARKS. INTEREST INVENTORIES AND VISITING A VARIETY OF EMPLOYERS TO LEARN WHAT DIFFERENT POSITIONS WITHIN EMPLOYERS GIVES INSIGHT INTO WHAT THEY MAY WANT TO DO IN COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT. INDIVIDUALS ALSO PARTICIPATE IN CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES THAT ARE DESIGNED TO BUILD ON INCREASING DAILY LIVING SKILLS. A TOTAL OF 16,568 HOURS OF DAY/COMMUNITY SERVICES WAS PROVIDED TO 31 INDIVIDUALS. BCDSI DEVELOPED A SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES AGES 14-21. THIS PROGRAM FOCUSES ON DAILY LIVING SKILLS, EXERCISE AND COMMUNITY INTEGRATION. THIRTEEN YOUTH ATTENDED THE PROGRAM IN 2021 RECEIVING 1340 HOURS OF SERVICE.
ENTERPRISES WERE SPECIFICALLY CREATED TO SUPPORT INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES WITH HANDS-ON WORK OPPORTUNITIES AT A PACE AND EXPECTATION LEVEL THAT MEETS THE INDIVIDUAL'S CURRENT ABILITIES WHILE ALSO PROVIDING A SAFE ENVIRONMENT TO FOCUS ON COMMUNITY WORKPLACE READINESS. WITHIN THE FACILITY, 18 PARTICIPANTS RECEIVED 3772 HOURS OF PRE-VOCATIONAL SERVICES TO PURSUE THEIR INDIVIDUALIZED PRE-VOCATIONAL GOALS TOWARD FUTURE COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT WHILE EARNING $12,651. BCDSI HAS A CONTRACT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION PROVIDING JOB PLACEMENT, JOB SHADOWING/COACHING, TASK ANALYSIS, TRANSPORTATION, CAREER PROFILE SERVICES, BENEFIT ANALYSIS AND TRANSITION TO LONG TERM COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT TO INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES. IN 2021, 17 INDIVIDUALS PURSUED COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT THROUGH THIS CONTRACT.
REST AREA MAINTENANCE (RAM) PROGRAM: BCDSI HAS A WISCONSIN STATE USE CONTRACT TO PROVIDE JANITORIAL AND LAWN CARE SERVICES TO TWO YEAR-ROUND REST AREAS AND ONE SEASONAL WAYSIDE. THREE INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES WORKED UNDER THIS CONTRACT PROVIDING 3566 HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT SKILL TRAINING.
