AT CROSS CULTURAL EXPRESSIONS WE SEE A WORLD IN WHICH DIVERSITY IS CELEBRATED AS A MEANS TO UNITE PEOPLE. WE WORK HARD TO UPLIFT INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES THROUGH THERAPY, EDUCATION AND THE ARTS, IN ORDER TO INCREASE DIALOG AND UNDERSTANDING. OUR PROJECTS, THOUGH VARIED IN SCOPE, FOCUS AND METHODOLOGIES, ALL CENTER AROUND THIS COMMON MISSION.

IN 2021, CROSS CULTURAL EXPRESSIONS' PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING:1) JEWISH FEDERATION GRANT: CREATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE YARAN: IRANIAN PEER COUNSELING HELPLINE. INVOLVES THE TRAINING AND SUPERVISING OF 10 VOLUNTEER PEER COUNSELORS THAT MAN THE YARAN HELPLINE. THE HELPLINE OFFERS MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT AND REFERRAL SERVICES TO FARSI SPEAKING COMMUNITY MEMBERS. WE ALSO OFFER UP TO 8 FREE INDIVIDUAL THERAPY SESSIONS WITH A PROFESSIONAL THERAPIST FOR QUALIFYING, FARSI SPEAKING INDIVIDUALS.2) DMH GRANT RUSSIAN MENTAL HEALTH MEDIA OUTREACH PROJECT: EDITING AND DISTRIBUTION OF 15 RUSSIAN MENTAL HEALTH PUBLIC SERVICES ANNOUNCEMENTS VIA SOCIAL MEDIA AND ON LOCAL RUSSIAN TELEVISION NETWORKS. GOAL OF THIS PROJECT WAS TO PROVIDE INFORMATION AND EDUCATION TO RUSSIAN SPEAKING INDIVIDUALS ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH AND TO DECREASE STIGMAS RELATED TO MENTAL ILLNESS.3) DMH GRANT PERSIAN POETRY MENTAL HEALTH WORKSHOPS PROJECT: CREATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF 20, 2-HOUR VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS (OVER A 10 MONTH PERIOD) TITLED, EXPLORING MENTAL HEALTH THROUGH PERSIAN POETRY. GOAL OF THE WORKSHOP WAS TO ENGAGE THE FARSI SPEAKING COMMUNITY IN ACTIVITIES THAT INCREASE THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES AND DECREASES STIGMAS AROUND MENTAL ILLNESS IN AN ENGAGING AND CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE MANNER.
