THE ORGANIZATION ENVISIONS A WORLD WHERE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS UNACCEPTABLE. IT IS THE MISSION OF BCDV TO REDUCE THE INCIDENCE AND SEVERITY OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INTERVENTION PROGRAMING (ALSO KNOWN AS BATTERERS INTERVENTION OR BIP) ARE PSYCHEDUCATIONAL GROUPS PROVIDED TO INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE BEEN FOUND TO HAVE BEEN VIOLENT IN THE COURSE OF A CLOSE PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP (INTINATE OR FAMILY) THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE INDIVIDUALS IN THE INTERVENE NOW PROGRAM ARE COURT ORDERED EITHER THROUGH CONVICTION, PLEA BARGAIN, OR INVOLVEMENT WITH FAMILY COURT. THERE ARE DIFFERENT MODELS FOR BIP PROGRAMMING, WITH THE MOST GENERALLY AKNOWLEDGED BEING THOS BASED ON THE DULUTH MODEL, COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL TRAINING AND SKILL BUILDING. THIS PROGRAM (INTERVENE NOW) HAS USED THE WEXLER CURRICULUM HAS A BASE, BUT INCORPORATED MATERIALS TO STRENGTHEN THE DULUTH AND COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL ASPECTS. NOT ONE SIZE FITS ALL, THE CURRENT CURRICULUM WORKS TO RECOGNIZE THE DIFFERENCES AMONG ECPERIENCES FOR THE MEN AS WELL AS HELP IDENTIFY SIILARITIES, INCLUDING THE VERY REAL EFFECTS OF THEIR OWN EXPOSURE TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND OTHER TRAMA.
