THE AFRICAN AMERICAN LEADERSHIP FORUM IS A COLLECTIVE OF INSTITUTIONS AND INDIVIDUALS THAT SERVES AS A COMMUNITY INNOVATION ACCELERATOR. AALF EMPOWERS BLACK COMMUNITIES TO IMAGINE AND CREATE AN EQUITABLE FUTURE FOR THEMSELVES. THE ORGANIZATION'S ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO MANIFEST A WORLD IN WHICH BLACK EXCELLENCE THRIVES IN ALL ITS FORMS, THROUGH BREAKTHROUGH COLLABORATION AND COORDINATED ACTION. WITH OPINION RESEARCH, DESIGN SOLUTIONS AND DISCOURSE-BASED ACTION AALF ADVANCES RACIAL EQUITY THROUGH A BLACK AGENDA FOR CHANGE IN MINNESOTA AND BEYOND. AFRICAN AMERICAN LEADERSHIP FORUM (AALF, THE ORGANIZATION) CONVERTS RESEARCH-BASED THOUGHT ON SOCIAL ISSUES INTO ACTION-ORIENTED AGENDA AND SOLUTIONS, WHICH ADDRESS THE FUNDAMENTAL CAUSES OF RACIAL INJUSTICE. OUR SOLUTIONS ARE AIMED TO IMPACT THE AREAS OF ECONOMIC PROSPERITY, GENERATIONAL WEALTH BUILDING, PUBLIC HEALTH, EDUCATION, CRIMINAL JUSTICE, AND CLIMATE JUSTICE. OUR GOAL IS TO END RACIAL INJUSTICE IN ALL ITS FORMS IN MINNESOTA. TO ACHIEVE THAT, WE UTILIZE DATA SCIENCE RESEARCH, DISCOURSE-DRIVEN GATHERINGS, DESIGN INNOVATION, AND STRATEGIC COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. THE PRIMARY FOCUS AREAS OF THE WORK FALL INTO THE FOLLOWING FOCUS AREAS DETERMINED TO IMPACT DAILY ASPECTS OF BLACK MINNESOTAN'S LIVES: * EDUCATION - BY ADVOCATING FOR A STATEWIDE SYSTEM THAT REFLECTS EDUCATIONAL PARITY FOR EVERY STUDENT, AT EVERY SCHOOL. * PUBLIC HEALTH - REIMAGINING THE STATEWIDE HEALTHCARE STRUCTURE TO PROVIDE EQUAL QUALITY CARE WITH EQUAL ACCESS TO ALL BLACK PEOPLE BY REMOVING THE SYSTEMIC BARRICADES TO EQUITABLE, AFFORDABLE LIFE-SAVING CARE. * CRIMINAL JUSTICE - CHAMPIONING A FAIR AND EQUAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS. * ECONOMIC PROSPERITY - REIMAGINING SYSTEMS SO THAT ECONOMIC GROWTH, SECURITY, AND FINANCIAL WELL-BEING ARE REACHABLE FOR ALL BLACK MINNESOTANS. * CLIMATE JUSTICE - WE ARE ADVOCATING SOLUTIONS THAT ADDRESS THE CLIMATE CRISIS AND IN TURN ADDRESS MANY SOCIAL, RACIAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL INJUSTICES. * GENERATION WEALTH BUILDING - WE WANT TO ENSURE FINANCIAL WEALTH IS CONSISTENTLY PASSED DOWN BY BLACK FAMILIES FROM ONE GENERATION TO THE OTHER.
