THE WORKING MISSION OF ONE EARTH COLLECTIVE IS TO HARNESS THE POWER OF PEOPLE THROUGH VIBRANT ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMMING THAT INSPIRES ACTION, FACILITATES LEARNING, PROMOTES JUSTICE, AND FOSTERS EQUITY AND INCLUSION TO CREATE RESILIENT COMMUNITIES AND A HEALTHIER PLANET.

THE ELEVENTH ANNUAL ONE EARTH FILM FESTIVAL WAS THE ORGANIZATION'S FIRST HYBRID VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON FESTIVAL. THE ORGANIZATION PRESENTED 17 VIRTUAL EVENTS AND 11 IN-PERSON EVENTS DURING ITS MARCH 2022 FESTIVAL. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO HELD 8 VIRTUAL SCREENING AND 3 IN-PERSON EVENTS IN APRIL DURING ITS ANNUAL EARTH WEEK-MINI FEST IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF CHICAGO MAYOR'S OFFICE. THESE EVENTS, WHICH REACHED OVER 3,000 ATTENDEES, EACH SCREENED AN ENVIRONMENTAL DOCUMENTARY FOLLOWED BY AUDIENCE DIALOGUE, PANEL DISCUSSIONS, AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACTION.
THE ORGANIZATION'S INITIATIVES TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE LIVING IN THE COMMUNITY INCLUDED (1) THE COORDINATION OF SEVERAL YOUTH-FOCUSED PROGRAMS INCLUDING (A) AUSTIN GROWN, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BUILD CHICAGO, (B) IT'S OUR FUTURE, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SEVEN GENERATIONS AHEAD, AND (C) THE HEALTH AMBASSADORS PROGRAM, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CHICAGO BOTANIC GARDEN; (2) A NATIVE PLANT SALE TO PROMOTE POLLINATOR-FRIENDLY HABITAT; (3) A WEBSITE AND CALENDAR HIGHLIGHTING SUSTAINABILITY INFORMATION, RESOURCES AND COMMUNITY EVENTS; AND (4) A MONTHLY E-NEWSLETTER TO MORE THAN 20,000 INDIVIDUAL SUBSCRIBERS.
THE ANNUAL YOUNG FILMMAKERS PROGRAM INCLUDED BOTH IN-PERSON WORKSHOPS AND THE YOUNG FILMMAKERS ONLINE ACADEMY, OFFERING LOW-COST AND SCHOLARSHIP-SUBSIDIZED FILM TRAINING FOR YOUTH. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO HELD ITS NINTH JURIED CONTEST, TO WHICH PRIMARY, MIDDLE, HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS SUBMITTED SHORT DOCUMENTARY FILMS COVERING ONE OF SEVEN SUSTAINABILITY TOPICS (WATER, WASTE, FOOD, TRANSPORTATION, ENERGY, OPEN SPACE, AND ECOSYSTEMS) AND COMPETED FOR CASH PRIZES, SCHOLARSHIPS AND MATCHING GRANTS.
