TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC AND PRESERVE HISTORY AND CULTURE IN WHITE PINE COUNTY, NV AND MILLARD COUNTY, UT

Part 3 - Line 4a

VAN'S HALL - ENGINEERING STUDY THE PURPOSE OF THIS GRANT WAS TO HIRE A STRUCTURAL ENGINEER AND HISTORIC ARCHITECT TO CONDUCT A THOROUGH FEASIBILITY STUDY OF THE C.1930 BUILDING (VAN'S DANCE HALL, MAINSTREET, DELTA, UTAH) TO DETERMINE WHAT IT WOULD TAKE TO PUT THE ICONIC 2ND-STORY DANCEHALL SPACE BACK INTO USE AS A CULTURAL FACILITY. THE REPORT WAS COMPLETED IN APRIL 2022 AND HAS SINCE BEEN UTILIZED TO OBTAIN A GRANT OF 50K FROM THE STATE OF UTAH TO BEGIN RESTORATION WORK.


CITY OF ELY - CITY HALL RESTORATION THIS GRANT FUNDED STABILIZATION AND WEATHERIZATION OF THE HISTORIC ELY CITY HALL, WHICH IS ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES, BY REPLACING DETERIORATING CAST WINDOWSILLS AND THE CAST PARAPET COURSE ON THE TOP OF THE BUILDING. THESE SURFACES PROTECT THE MASONRY OF THE BUILDING. ORIGINAL SILLS THAT WERE STILL SERVICEABLE REMAINED, AND NEW SILLS WERE CAST TO REPLACE THOSE TOO FAR DETERIORATED. THE EXISTING PARAPET COURSE WAS REMOVED, AND A NEW PARAPET COURSE WAS CAST IN PLACE ON TOP OF THE BUILDING. THE OBJECTIVE WITH THE WINDOWS IS TO RESTORE THEM TO THEIR ORIGINAL STATE AND FUNCTION.


FRIENDS OF TERRITORIAL STATEHOUSE - NATIVE AMERICAN LIVING HISTORY THIS GRANT FUNDED A PORTION OF THE LIVING HISTORY SEGMENT (NATIVE AMERICAN DANCE DEMONSTRATIONS) OF THE OLD CAPITOL ARTS AND LIVING HISTORY FESTIVAL IN FILLMORE, UTAH IN SEPTEMBER 2022. THE GRANT ENABLED THE FESTIVAL TO ACHIEVE ITS OBJECTIVES OF TELLING THE STORY OF THE GREAT BASIN THROUGH MULTIPLE CULTURAL PERSPECTIVES AND MEDIUMS; PROVIDING A SENSE OF SHARED COMMUNITY AND PURPOSE; AND FOSTERING CONSERVATION OF THE HISTORY AND THE ENVIRONMENT OF THE AREA BY BUILDING UP APPRECIATION IN THE PUBLIC OF OUR SHARED HERITAGE.
