Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
THE BEATRICE HUMANE SOCIETY IS A NO-KILL ANIMAL SHELTER SERVING BEATRICE, GAGE COUNTY AND BEYOND. WE PROVIDE SHELTER TO ANIMALS IN NEED SO THEY CAN RECOVER AND BE REUNITED WITH THEIR ORIGINAL FAMILY OR PLACED FOR ADOPTION WITH NO TIME LIMITS. IN 2023 WE HAD 2006 ADOPTIONS, AND ASSISTED 1384 ANIMALS THROUGH THE SHELTER, WITH AN AMAZING SAVE RATE OF 97.8%. THIS MEANS LESS THAN 2.2% OF THE TOTAL NUMBER OF ANIMALS ENTERING THE SHELTER MEDICALLY OR BEHAVIORALLY NEEDED EUTHANASIA. WE TAKE OUR COMMITMENT TO LIFESAVING SERIOUSLY AND EACH YEAR WE WORK TO HELP MORE AT- RISK ANIMALS. WE HAVE DEVELOPED A RINGWORM TREATMENT SUITE TO HOUSE AND TREAT CATS LOCALLY AND AS TRANSFERS FROM OTHER SHELTERS, ESTABLISHED PARTNERSHIPS WITH SOME OF THE BEST TRAINERS IN NEBRASKA TO ASSIST OUR BEHAVIORALLY VULNERABLE DOGS, EMPOWERED OUR FOSTER PARENTS TO HELP US ADOPT OUT OUR ANIMALS AND CREATED A PARTNERSHIP WITH BOTH LINCOLN PETSMARTS TO EXTEND OUR LIFESAVING MISSION THROUGH ADOPTION. WE ARE ALSO COMMITTED TO KEEPING PETS IN THEIR HOMES THROUGH PET RETENTION ASSISTANCE AND OUR PET FOOD BANK. THROUGH THIS WE AIM TO BE THE BEST RESOURCE WE CAN BE FOR THE PETS AND PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEM IN OUR COMMUNITY.
IN MAY OF 2023, WE OPENED THE DOORS OF OUR PUBLIC FACING LOW-COST SPAY AND NEUTER CLINIC. WE HAVE KNOWN FOR MANY YEARS THAT ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE PREVENTATIVE CARE HAS BEEN IMPACTING THE INCOME RESTRICTED FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITIES. PROPORTIONALLY THEY PROVIDE A LARGER NUMBER OF STRAYS, SURRENDERS AND PET RETENTION ASSISTANCE REQUESTS THAN OTHER PARTS OF OUR COMMUNITY. BY PROVIDING THEM ASSISTANCE TO GET PREVENTATIVE VETERINARY CARE SUCH AS SPAYS AND NEUTERS, WE WILL SEE A DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF ANIMALS BEING SURRENDERED AND BY INCLUDING MICROCHIPPING IN OUR PACKAGES WE HOPE TO BE ABLE TO REUNITE THEM WITH THE FAMILIES THAT LOVE THEM EASIER. WE ARE ECSTATIC ABOUT BEING ABLE TO OFFER TRAP, VACCINATE, NEUTER AND RETURN TO THEIR HOME TO THE FERAL CATS IN OUR COMMUNITIES AT A PRICE POINT THAT CITIES, TOWNS AND EVEN INDIVIDUAL OWNERS CAN ACCESS THAT CARE. WE KNOW THAT THIS IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE FORM OF OUTDOOR CAT POPULATION CONTROL AND ARE EXCITED TO SEE OUR COMMUNITIES IMPROVE WITH THE ROLLOUT OF THE TVNR PROGRAM. FINALLY, WE ARE ALSO PROVIDING IN HOUSE SPAYS AND NEUTERS AS WELL AS ADDITIONAL ADVANCED VETERINARY CARE FOR OUR SHELTER ANIMALS ALLOWING US TO PROVIDE THEM THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF CARE THEY DESERVE WHILE PROVIDING US CRITICAL ADDITIONAL CAPACITY TO CARE FOR AS MANY ANIMALS AS WE CAN ALONG THEIR PATH TO ADOPTION.
