THE UTAH BLUES SOCIETY'S MISSION IS TO PRESERVE BLUES HERITAGE, CELEBRATE BLUES RECORDING AND PERFORMANCE, EXPAND STATEWIDE AWARENESS OF THE BLUES, AND ENSURE THE FUTURE OF THIS UNIQUELY AMERICAN ART FORM.

THE UTAH BLUES FESTIVAL IS DEDICATED TO PRESENTING DIFFERENT GENRES OF BLUES MUSIC, WORKSHOPS AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO LOCAL RESIDENTS AND OUT-OF-STATE VISITORS. IT IS HELD AT THE GALLIVAN CENTER IN DOWNDOWN SALT LAKE CITY. IT CONTINUES TO GROW EACH YEAR AND IS FAST BECOMING AN IMPORTANT CULTURAL EVENT FOR THE STATE OF UTAH. THE ATTENDANCE WAS 2200 IN 2017 AND 2800 IN 2018. IN 2019 THE FESTIVAL WAS EXPANDED TO A DAY AND A HALF FROM ONE DAY AND ATTENDANCE WAS 4000.
BLUES IN THE SCHOOLS CONDUCTS HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOLS TO EXPAND STUDENTS' KNOWLEDGE OF BLUES HERITAGE AND MUSIC. LOCAL AND NATIONAL MUSICIANS/EDUCATORS PARTICIPATE IN THESE PROGRAMS, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS. THE STUDENT PARTICIPATION WAS 1200 IN 2017, 800 IN 2018 AND 600 IN 2019 REPRESENTING ECKER MIDDLE SCHOOL, ROWLAND HALL AND HILLSIDE MIDDLE SCHOOL.
THE YOUTH BLUES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO ASPIRING YOUNG BLUES MUSICIANS TO STUDY AT REPUTABLE CAMPS, SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS. IN 2019 BLUES "N" KIDS, A BLUES MUSIC SCHOOL, WAS AWARDED A 1500 GRANT AND SERVED 10-15 KIDS.
