PROVIDING CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES THAT BENEFIT THE HEALTH AND WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE OF NEPAL.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

ACTIVITIES IN 2023 INCLUDED FOLLOW-UP CARE FOR A FEW OF THE NINE WOMEN WHO RECEIVED MAJOR GYNECOLOGIC SURGERY (VAGINAL HYSTERECTOMY WITH PELVIC FLOOR REPAIR) IN DECEMBER 2022. MOST OF THESE WOMEN CONVALESCED IN A CITY SUCH AS KATHMANDU OR DHADING BESI AFTER THEIR SURGERY, AVOIDING RETURNING HOME TO RURAL AREAS WHERE THEY ARE EXPECTED TO CARRY HEAVY LOADS. A FEW WOMEN NEEDED RETURN VISITS TO MODEL HOSPITAL TO CONSULT WITH SURGEONS POST-SURGERY. WE ALSO CONDUCTED INTERVIEWS WITH THE WOMEN A FEW MONTHS POST-SURGERY TO DETERMINE HOW THE SURGERIES HAD AFFECTED THEIR OVERALL HEALTH.

OUR SHOES FOR SHERPAS PROGRAM DISTRIBUTED NEARLY 150 PAIRS OF FOOTWEAR IN KHANIYABAS MUNICIPALITY. THESE SHOES AND BOOTS HAD BEEN STAGED IN KATHMANDU. ALL HAD BEEN CARRIED TO NEPAL WITH STANDARD BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE AND THEREFORE NO COSTS WERE INCURRED. WE WERE ABLE TO TRANSPORT THE FOOTWEAR TO KHANIYABAS AT THE SAME TIME WE BROUGHT MEDICAL EQUIPMENT THERE AT THE END OF 2022, SO THE 2023 FOOTWEAR DISTRIBUTION HAD NO COSTS.

COLORADO NEPAL ALLIANCE (CNA) WAS CONTACTED BY THE ARAPAHOE COUNTY CORONER IN COLORADO TO HELP LOCATE THE FAMILY OF TWO WOMEN WHO WERE MURDERED. THE WOMEN SPOKE NEPALI, BUT IT TURNS OUT THEY WERE FROM NORTHEASTERN INDIA. COLORADO NEPAL ALLIANCE HELD A VIGIL, AND WITH PUBLICITY FROM THE VIGIL THE FAMILY IN INDIA REACHED OUT TO CNA A FEW DAYS LATER. THE FAMILY IS CHRISTIAN AND WANTED A CHRISTIAN BURIAL. CNA ARRANGED FOR A CHRISTIAN FUNERAL AND BURIAL FOR THE VICTIMS, WHICH WAS PAID FOR BY A VICTIM'S ASSISTANCE FUND.
