THE U.S. ADVOCACY PROGRAM PROVIDES TRAINING OF FGM SURVIVORS TO BECOME INFORMATION ADVISORS IN THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES. IT ALSO INCLUDES VARIOUS WORKSHOPS AROUND MULTIPLE U.S. CITIES TO TEACH PRACTICING COMMUNITIES ABOUT FGM AND TO WORK WITH FRONT LINE PROFESSIONALS. YOUTH EDUCATION PROGRAMS ARE CONDUCTED IN AFTER SCHOOL SETTINGS FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL REFUGEE STUDENTS AT COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES WITH LARGE IMMIGRANT POPULATIONS AND HELPING THEM BECOME ADVOCATES FOR THEIR OWN HEALTH.
THE GAMBIAN ADVOCACY PROGRAM PROVIDES TRAINING OF FGM SURVIVORS TO BECOME INFORMATION ADVISORS IN THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES. IT ALSO INCLUDES VARIOUS WORKSHOPS AROUND SURROUNDING VILLAGES TO TEACH PRACTICING COMMUNITIES ABOUT FGM AND TO WORK WITH FRONT LINE PROFESSIONALS.
THE BREAKING BARRIERS PROGRAM, BASED IN MULTIPLE U.S. CITIES, OFFERS MENTORSHIP; HELP WITH SCHOOL; AND LINKS YOUNG GIRLS (FROM IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE BACKGROUNDS) WITH LOCAL RESOURCES AND LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES, WHILE PREVENTING PRACTICES OF FGM AND CHILD MARRIAGE.
