FUNDING SOURCES INCLUDED GRANTS FROM FEDERAL AGENCIES, SUCH AS THENATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION AND INSTITUTE FOR MUSEUM AND LIBRARYSERVICES AND CONTRACTS WITH NONPROFIT AND GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATIONS,SUCH AS THE VIRGINIA AIR & SPACE CENTER AND L.A. COUNTY MUSEUM OF ART.THE FOCUS OF THESE PROJECTS INCLUDED STUDYING HOW CHILDREN AND ADULTSLEARN SCIENCE OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL; PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR MUSEUMS,COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS, AND OTHER ENTITIES INTERESTED INMEASURING THEIR SOCIETAL IMPACT; AND CONVENING EDUCATORS ANDPOLICYMAKERS TO EXPLORE THE FUTURE OF LEARNING AND EDUCATION IN THEUNITED STATES.
