Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
2021 SAW MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AT CHILDREN OF THE IMMACULATE HEART. THE REFUGE, OUR SHORT-TERM RESIDENTIAL THERAPEUTIC PROGRAM FOR 1217-YEAR-OLD FOSTER AND PROBATION YOUTH HAD ITS ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY SINCE OPENING IN SEPTEMBER 2020. WE SERVED 8 FOSTER AND PROBATION TEENAGE GIRLS IN 2021TO GET OUT OF THE LIFE OF SEX TRAFFICKING OR AVOID BEING TRAFFICKED WHEN AT HIGH RISK. IN THE HOME WE PROVIDED EDUCATION THROUGH A HOME-SCHOOL CHARTER SCHOOL, RESIDENTIAL SERVICES, AND BOTH INDIVIDUAL, GROUP, EQUINE, AND MUSIC THERAPY. WE ARE VERY PROUD OF ONE YOUTH IN PARTICULAR WHO STAYED WITH US FOR EIGHT MONTHS (THE PROGRAM IS TYPICALLY SIX MONTHS). IT WAS AMAZING TO WATCH HOW MUCH A YOUNG GIRL MATURE IN THAT TIME AND IT WAS WITH TEARS THAT WE SENT HER TO HER NEXT PLACEMENT!
IN ST. BAKHITAS PROGRAM FOR WOMEN WITH CHILDREN, WE WERE ABLE TO CARE FOR EIGHT WOMEN AND ABOUT 25 CHILDREN. THESE WOMEN COME TO OUR OFFICE FOR WEEKLY CASE MANAGEMENT MEETINGS, HAD HOUSING PROVIDED OR SUBSIDIZED BY CIH, HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND WEEKLY THERAPY, MONTHLY GROUP THERAPY AT OUR OFFICE, AND CELEBRATIONS FOR HOLIDAYS, ALONG WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR GROCERIES, GAS, EDUCATION, AND OTHER BASIC NEEDS. CLIENTS MADE SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS WITH THEIR MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH THROUGH THE THERAPEUTIC SERVICES THAT CIH OFFERS, EVIDENCED BY THEFACT THAT THE MAJORITY OF OUR CLIENTS WHO WERE HEALTHY ENOUGH TO WORK WERE ABLE TO HOLD DOWN JOBS IN 2021. SEVERAL CLIENTS WERE NEAR COMPLETING THEIR PROGRAM WITH CIH AT THE END OF THE YEAR. WE ALSO WERE ABLE TO SUPPORT THREE CLIENTS WITH SIGNIFICANT HEALTH ISSUES THAT PROHIBIT THEM FROM BEING ABLE TO WORK AT ALL OR WORK FULL-TIME. IT WAS A BLESSING TO BE ABLE TO ASSIST THESE WOMEN WHO ARE DOUBLY IN NEED.
