CHORUS SUPPORTS AND PROMOTES FREE OF CHARGE PUBLIC ACCESS TO AND CONTINUED AVAILABILITY OF SCHOLARLY PUBLICATIONS REPORTING ON RESEARCH FUNDED BY THE UNITED STATES (US) FEDERAL GOVERNMENT (AND POSSIBLY OTHER FUNDING AGENCIES IN THE FUTURE) BY LEVERAGING TECHNOLOGY AND PLATFORMS USED BY SCHOLARLY PUBLISHING ORGANIZATIONS.CHORUS IS AN OUTGROWTH OF BOTH INCREASING DESIRE ON THE PART OF THE US GOVERNMENT TO ENSURE THAT THE RESULTS OF RESEARCH IT FUNDS ARE MADE BROADLY AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC AND A DESIRE ON THE PART OF THE SCHOLARLY PUBLISHING COMMUNITY (WHICH CONSISTS LARGELY OF NON-PROFIT PUBLISHERS) TO ASSIST US GOVERNMENT AGENCIES IN MEETING THIS OBJECTIVE.
