IMPLEMENTATION OF OVC GRANT: THE ENITAN STORY (TES) IMPLEMENTED AN OFFICE FOR VICTIMS OF CRIME (OVC) GRANT AWARDED BY THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH (MDH) WITH THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES.IN-DEPTH COMMUNITY OUTREACH: THE OBJECTIVE OF TES IN-DEPTH COMMUNITY OUTREACH TO IDENTIFY AND SERVE VICTIMS OF LABOR TRAFFICKING AGES 24 AND UNDER THROUGH NEEDS ASSESSMENT, CASE MANAGEMENT, AND JOB AND LIFE SKILLS. IN 2019, TES CONDUCTED OVER 100 OUTREACH ACTIVITIES WITHIN AND TO THE SUBURB OF THE TWIN CITIES TO SERVICE PROVIDERS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO MAY COME IN CONTACT WITH VICTIMS OR POTENTIAL VICTIMS OF LABOR TRAFFICKED YOUTH. AMONG THEM ARE NEW COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND COLLABORATORS FOR THE PURPOSES OF REFERRING CLIENTS WHO IDENTIFY AS LABOR TRAFFICKED YOUTH. THESE OUTREACH ACTIVITIES WERE CONDUCTED VIA EMAILS, PHONE CALLS, TELECONFERENCE, SOCIAL MEDIA AND IN PERSON MEETING. AT LEAST, 6745 PEOPLE WERE REACHED IN THE COMMUNITY THROUGH IN-DEPTH OUTREACH, RESOURCE FAIR, AND TRAINING FOR SERVICE PROVIDERS AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS HANDING OUT BROCHURES AND EXPLAINING HUMAN TRAFFICKING WITH EMPHASIS ON HOW TO IDENTIFY LABOR TRAFFICKING AMONG VULNERABLE YOUTH, AND 27,500 MN HOUSEHOLDS VIA THE PRESS.CASE MANAGEMENT AND SCREENING: THROUGH A NEW PARTNER AGENCY, TES IDENTIFIED ONE FOREIGN-BORN CLIENT, MALE, AGE 23, FROM BROOKLYN PARK WHO IS A POTENTIAL LABOR TRAFFICKED YOUTH AFTER CONDUCTING A NEEDS ASSESSMENT.NEW COUNTY AGENCY TRAINING: TES GAINED NEW COUNTY AGENCY BY CONDUCTING TRAINING TO COUNTY STAFF AT SHERBURNE COUNTY ON HOW TO RECOGNIZE LABOR TRAFFICKED YOUTH AMONG THE CLIENTS ACCESSING PUBLIC BENEFITS.GROUP/AGENCY/NETWORK COLLABORATION: TES PARTICIPATES IN THE ANOKA COUNTY IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE ASSETS FUND MONTHLY MEETING AS TIME PERMITS, AND HELPED TO DEVELOP TRAININGS. TES WAS INVITED BY ONE OF THE CITIES TAKING THE LEAD ON LABOR TRAFFICKING, THE CITY OF MINNEAPOLIS, TO COLLABORATE TO ENHANCE IDENTIFICATION OF LABOR TRAFFICKING IN MN AND A PRESENTATION WAS DELIVERED TO TRAIN STAFF ON HOW TO IDENTIFY LABOR TRAFFICKING.TES GAINED NEW COLLABORATIVE PARTNERS WITH THE U.S. ATTORNEY'S OFFICE, DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND THE FBI. THE VICTIMS SERVICE SPECIALISTS FROM THE THREE AGENCIES DID A SITE VISIT AT THE ENITAN STORY IN 2019. TES CONTINUES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ANOKA COUNTY IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE ASSETS FUND MONTHLY MEETING AS TIME PERMITS, AND HELPED TO DEVELOP TRAININGS. TES COLLABORATED WITH ONE OF THE YOUTH SERVICE PROVIDERS, THE LINK TO CO-PRESENT AND COLLABORATE WITH OUR CULTURALLY SPECIFIC COMMUNITIES CONNECTING TES WITH THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY AT THE CEDAR RIVERSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION TO DISCUSS COLLABORATION OPPORTUNITY TO IDENTIFY LABOR TRAFFICKED YOUTH. DUE TO THIS COLLABORATION, THE LINK REFERRED A POTENTIAL LABOR TRAFFICKED YOUTH TO TES. TES CONDUCTED FIVE TRAININGS AT THE OSSEO SCHOOL DISTRICT WHERE ANOTHER POTENTIAL VICTIM OF LABOR TRAFFICKING WAS IDENTIFIED. TES HAS REACHED OUT TO THE AMERICAN INDIAN FAMILY CENTER, AN INDIAN TRIBE PROVIDER IN ST. PAUL FOR OPPORTUNITY TO CROSS REFER AND THEY PLAN TO REFER YOUTH TO OUR JOB AND LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM.TES HOSTED THE TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS HEROES FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE IN THE SUMMER OF 2019.TES WAS FULLY INVOLVED IN THE PLANNING OF THE SAFE HARBOR CONFERENCE SCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY 11 AND 12, 2020 AS ONE OF THE SPONSORS OF THE PROGRAM WHICH HOPES TO INCLUDE SURVIVORS' VOICES TO TRAIN INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS IN MINNESOTA.COUNTY AGENCY TRAINING: TES CONDUCTED TWO TRAINING SESSIONS AT THE THE ANOKA COUNTY ECONOMIC ASSISTANCE, CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE AND EMPLOYMENTS SERVICES AND TRAINED ABOUT 80 EMPLOYEES. DHS LABOR TRAFFICKING SUBGROUP: TES OUTREACH COORDINATOR HAS CONTINUED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DHS LABOR TRAFFICKING SUBGROUP MEETINGS, AND TO REVIEW BEST PRACTICE GUIDE DEVELOPED BY THE AGENCY ON HOW TO RESPOND TO CHILDREN WHO ARE LABOR TRAFFICKED IN MINNESOTA.
