COMMUNITY CENTER INCLUDED FREE CLASSROOM PROGRAMMING SPACE TO LAUNCH AN INNOVATIVE OUT-OF-SCHOOL STEM PROGRAM THAT TARGETS UNDERREPRESENTED AND UNDERSERVED MINORITIZED GIRLS LIVING IN OR NEAR THE 75210 AND 75215 ZIP CODES. IT IS THE FIRST AND ONLY STEM-BASED, GIRL-CENTRIC NONPROFIT IN SOUTH DALLAS FOUNDED AND/OR LED BY AN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN. THE PROGRAMMING SPACE WAS LAUNCHED IN SEPTEMBER 2023 AND SERVED OUT-OF-SCHOOL STEM PROGRAM TO AREA GIRLS MONDAY-THURSDAY AND SATURDAY.A FEATURED PROGRAM OF THE CLUB IS GIRLS PARTICIPATED IN A NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION-FUNDED PROJECT WITH SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY SIMMONS SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT RESEARCHERS.TWO SUMMER CAMPS WERE HELD, TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY IN HOUSTON , TX AND TEXAS CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY IN FORT WORTH, TX.
