THROUGH EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING MEI PROMOTES THE CULTURAL INTELLECTUAL AND HISTORICAL AWARENESS OF THE MARSHALLESE PEOPLE AND FACILITATES INTERCULTURAL DIALGUE TO FOSTER POSITIVE SOCIAL CHANGE.

MEI STAFF HELP MARSHALLESE NAVIGATE LIFE IN THE UNITED STATES ARKANSAS. PROGRAMMING AREAS INCLUDE DAY TO DAY OUTREACH INTERPRETER AND TRANSLATION SERVICES AND ONE-ON-ONE ASSISTANCE MAINTAINING A STAFF AND OFFICE. SPECIFIC PROGRAMS ARE AIMED AT YOUTH WOMEN AND ELDER POPULATIONS. YOUTH PROGRAMMING IS CENTERED ON RAISING EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT LEVELS AND PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT. IN ADDITION MEI'S WOMEN'S ADVOCACY PROGRAM IS FOCUSED ON RAISING AWARENESS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SEXUAL ASSAULT AND TRAFFICKING AND HELPING MITIGATE ITS PREVALENCE IN PACIFIC ISLANDER CULTURE. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO EDUCATES THE PUBLIC REGARDING THE IMPACT OF NUCLEAR TESTING AND CLIMATE CHANGES ON THE ISLANDS AND HOW IT AFFECTS THE MARSHALLESE COMUNITY MEMBERS IN THE US.


COVID 19 RECOVERY & RELIEF - IN MARCH 2020 WHEN THE PANDEMIC FIRST DIRECTLY IMPACTED ARKANSAS MEI LAUNCHED THEIR COVID-19 RELIEF AND RESPONSE PROJECT AND THIS PROGRAM WAS EXTENDED THROUGH 2022. FEDERAL CITY AND PRIVATE GRANTS FUNDED EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH ABOUT PREVENTION AND VACCINATION EFFORTS AS WELL AS OVERALL HEALTH AND WELLBEING AND ALLOWED MEI TO PROVIDE INCENTIVES FOR RECEIVING COVID VACCINATIONS AS WELL AS UTILITY AND RENTAL ASSISTANCE TO MARSHALLESE COMMUNITY MEMBERS.
