ARCHITECTURE SARASOTA, INC. IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION FORMED BY THE 2021 MERGER OF TWO LEGACY ORGANIZATIONS: SARASOTA ARCHITECTURAL FOUNDATION AND THE CENTER FOR ARCHITECTURE SARASOTA. LOCATED IN THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN SARASOTA, THE SCOTT BUILDING, NOW KNOWN AS THE MCCULLOCH PAVILION, WAS DESIGNED IN 1960 BY AWARD-WINNING AND NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED ARCHITECTS WILLIAM RUPP AND JOSEPH FARRELL. THEIR LEGACIES AS IMPORTANT MASTERS IN THE SARASOTA SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE REMAIN PRESERVED IN THIS BUILDING, ONE OF THE LAST REMAINING COMMERCIAL OR PUBLIC PROJECTS IN SARASOTA DESIGNED BY EITHER ARCHITECT. THE MCCULLOCH PAVILION, WHICH IS LISTED ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER FOR HISTORIC PLACES AND DESIGNATED A LOCAL LANDMARK, PROVIDES A PLACE FOR EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND INNOVATION RELATED TO ARCHITECTURE.THE MCCULLOCH PAVILION INCLUDES EXHIBIT SPACE AND A LECTURE HALL PROVIDING A VENUE FOR PROFESSIONAL AND PUBLIC PROGRAMS THAT FOSTER CREATIVITY, CREATE AWARENESS AND ADVANCE EXCELLENCE IN ARCHITECTURE, DESIGN AND URBAN PLANNING. THE PAVILION ALSO PROVIDES SPACE FOR DESIGN CHARETTES, COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS, AND OTHER ACTIVITIES THAT ENGAGE THE PUBLIC AROUND PRESERVATION AND DESIGN. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES A VARIETY OF PROGRAMMING THAT IS AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. THE GALLERY SPACE CAN ACCOMMODATE THREE TO FOUR EXHIBITS EACH YEAR OF VARYING SUBJECTS RELATING TO ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN. ALL EXHIBITS ARE FREE TO THE PUBLIC. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDES PROGRAMMING RELEVANT TO THE EXHIBIT ON DISPLAY AT THE TIME.
