THE INTERDENOMINATIONAL THEOLOGICAL CENTER ITC IS A CONSORTIUM OF DENOMINATIONAL SEMINARIES WHOSE MISSION IS TO EDUCATE CHRISTIAN LEADERS FOR MINISTRY AND SERVICE IN THE CHURCH AND THE GLOBAL COMMUNITY.

INSTRUCTIONAL, PUBLIC SERVICE AND RESEARCH - THE MISSION OF ITC IS TO CULTIVATE LEADERS WHO COMMIT TO PRACTICE JUSTICE AND PEACE THROUGH LIBERATING AND TRANSFORMATIVE SPIRITUALITY. THE FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATION CREATE A SPIRITUAL ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH CRITICAL THINKING, INVESTIGATION, REFLECTION, EVALUATION, COMMUNICATION, DECISION-MAKING, AND RESPONSIBLE ACTION ARE FOSTERED. THEY CHALLENGE ALL STUDENTS TO BECOME INVOLVED IN THE PROBLEMS THAT AFFECT THE HUMAN SPIRIT TO BECOME ACTIVE ON BEHALF OF THE ACADEMIC COMMUNITY AND COMMUNITY BEYOND THE CAMPUS TO DEVELOP AN APPRECIATION FOR THE DISCIPLINES THAT CONTRIBUTE TO THEOLOGICAL RESOURCES IN AN ETHICALLY RESPONSIBLE FASHION AND TO MAINTAIN CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT OF THE INTELLECT, SPIRIT, AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR SPIRITUAL GROWTH.
AUXILIARY ENTERPRISES - ITC IS AN INDEPENDENT, COEDUCATIONAL GRADUATE SHOOL OF THEOLOGY. FOUNDED IN 1958, THE INTERDENOMINATIONAL THEOLOGICAL CENTER ITC IS AN ECUMENICAL HISTORICALLY BLACK THEOLOGICAL INSTITUTION. AT ITS FOUNDING, KEY RELIGIOUS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS RECOGNIZED THAT THE BLACK CHURCH REQUIRED LEADERS WHO WERE BOTH ENGAGED IN THE SOCIAL REALITIES OF THE COMMUNITIES THEY SERVED IMPACTED BY RACISM, JIM CROW LEGALIZED SEGREGATION AND, THE HISTORICAL LOCATION OF THE AFRICAN AMERICAN CHURCH AS THE EPICENTER OF HOPE AND RESTORATION FOR THOSE DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY THESE SOCIAL REALITIES. THE ROBERT W. WOODRUFF LIBRARY SUPPORTS THE TEACHING AND LEARNING MISSION OF THE ITC.
ACADEMIC SUPPORT - ITC IS DEDICATED TO PRODUCING PUBLIC THEOLOGIANS, MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE INTELLECTUALLY KEEN, POLITICALLY SOPHISTICATED, ECONOMICALLY SAVVY, CULTURALLY SENSITIVE, FAMILY FRIENDLY, TECHNOLOGICALLY LITERATE, AND SPIRITUALLY ASTUTE. A KEY ROLE OF THESE PUBLIC THEOLOGIANS IS TO SERVE AS LIASIONS FACILITATORS OF NEW ALLIANCES BETWEEN AMERICAS CHURCHES AND OTHER NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, CORPORATIONS, FOUNDATIONS AND GOVERNMENT ENTITIES.
