CANDIDATE TRAINING, EDUCATION AND RECRUITMENT:IN OUR NATION TODAY, THERE ARE MORE THAN TWO MILLION MILITARY VETERANS WHO HAVE SERVED SINCE 9/11, MORE THAN ONE MILLION AMERICORPS ALUMNI, AND MORE THAN 230,000 RETURNED PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEERS. THESE AMERICANS HAVE DEMONSTRATED A DEEP COMMITMENT TO SERVING THE COUNTRY AND REPRESENT SOME OF OUR NATION'S BEST, PROVEN SERVANT LEADERS. YET ONLY A TINY SLIVER CURRENTLY RUN FOR, OR HOLD, POLITICAL OFFICE. AND WHEN SERVANT LEADERS DO SHOW INTEREST IN RUNNING, THEY QUICKLY DISCOVER THAT OUR POLITICAL SYSTEM HAS SIGNIFICANT BARRIERS TO ACCESS. SIMPLY PUT, THE POLITICAL SPACE IS CHALLENGING TO ENTER AND CONFUSING TO NAVIGATE FOR SERVANT LEADERS WHO CHOSE TO RUN.AT NEW POLITICS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY, WE OVERCOME THESE CHALLENGES BY RECRUITING MORE SERVANT LEADERS TO ENTER POLITICS ACROSS THE NATION, AND THEN EDUCATE AND TRAIN THEM TO SUCCEED IN THE POLITICAL ARENA.DURING THE YEAR, WE RAN MORE THAN 40 ANSWERING THE CALL PROGRAMS IN DOZENS OF CITIES, GRADUATING MORE THAN 500 PARTICIPANTS.AT THIS POINT, WITH NEARLY 2000 ATC ALUMNI HAVING GONE THROUGH THIS EXPERIENCE, WE ARE BUILDING THE BEGINNINGS OF A MOVEMENT OF SERVANT LEADERS WILLING AND ABLE TO SUPPORT AND PUSH EACH OTHER TO CONFRONT THESE INNER CHALLENGES AS THEY CAMPAIGN AND GOVERN AT ALL LEVELS.ALL PROGRAMMING WAS DONE ONLINE DURING THE YEAR.
