Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

OUR SHELTER DIVERSION PROGRAM WAS IMPLEMENTED IN 2017. THE GOAL OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO KEEP ANIMALS FROM EVER ENTERING A SHELTER - OURS OR A LOCAL HIGH-KILL SHELTER. WE ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL BY PROVIDING DISCOUNTED OR FREE SERVICES INCLUDING MEDICAL CARE, MICRO-CHIPPING, FREE FOOD AND GROOMING. MANY TIMES, A COMPANION ANIMAL IS THE ONLY COMPANION FOR AN ELDERLY COMMUNITY MEMBER, AND IT IS IMPERATIVE TO KEEP THE COMPANION IN THE HOME. THIS IS AN EFFECTIVE PROGRAM AND HAS SERVED NUMEROUS ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED INDIVIDUALS IN OUR SURROUNDING COMMUNITY. THIS PROGRAM IS MUCH NEEDED AND VALUED BY OUR COMMUNITY AS MANY COMMUNITY MEMBERS DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE GOVERNMENT FUNDED SHELTER, EVEN BY WAY OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. THIS PROGRAM, BY DEFAULT, IS NOT REVENUE GENERATING. THE EXPENSES IN 2022 INCLUDED RESCUE SUPPLIES AND MEDICAL CARE FOR ANIMALS.

OUR ADOPTION PROGRAM WAS IMPLEMENTED IN 2014. THE GOAL OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO PULL ANIMALS FROM HIGH-KILL SHELTERS, CRUELTY CASES AND HOMELESSNESS AND GET THEM THE MEDICAL CARE THEY NEED PRIOR TO ADOPTION. MEDICAL CARE INCLUDES SPAY/NEUTER, VACCINATIONS, HEARTWORM TREATMENT, MICROCHIPPING AND VARIOUS TREATMENT RANGING FROM AMPUTATIONS TO EYE REMOVALS. THIS IS AN EFFECTIVE PROGRAM AND OUR LIFE SAVING NUMBER CONTINUES TO INCREASE ANNUALLY. THIS PROGRAM IS MUCH NEEDED AND VALUED IN OUR COMMUNITY AS COMPANION ANIMALS ENHANCE OUR LIVES AND DESERVE A SECOND OR EVEN THIRD CHANCE. EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROGRAM ARE COMPRISED OF RESCUE SUPPLIES, RESCUE FOOD, AND MEDICAL CARE.
