ARYSE SUPPORTS IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE YOUTH IN BECOMING ENGAGED, CONFIDENT, AND CELEBRATED MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITIES.

Part 3 - Line 4a
PRYSE ACADEMY IS A SUMMER PROGRAM THAT SERVES OVER 80 YOUTH OVER THE COURSE OF 6 WEEKS IN THE SUMMER. DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, LITERACY, ARTS, LEADERSHIP, AND POST-SECONDARY READINESS ACTIVITIES WERE PROVIDED VIRTUALLY.
THE AFTER-SCHOOL CLUB SERVES 20 HIGH SCHOOL-AGE IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE YOUTH THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR. BOLUNTEERS PROVIDE TUTORING AND HOMEWORK HELP AND ARYSE PARTNERS WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE COLLEGE ANCAREER READINESS ACTIVITIES TO HELP PARTICIPANTS PREPARE FOR LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. THESE PARTICIPANTS TRANSITION INTO A SUMMER WORKFORCE PROGRAM CALLED LEARN AND EARN AND MOST WORK AS COUNSELORS-IN-TRAINING AT PRYSE ACADEMY.
ARYSE FACILITATES A YOUTH STEERING COMMITTEE MADE UP OF 15 IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE TEEN LEADERS WHO MEET TWICE PER MONTH TO WEIGH IN ON ARYSE PROGRAM DECISIONS, DEVELOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS, E.G. PUBLIC SPEAKING, AND CONNECT WITH THEIR PEERS.
OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES INCLUDING, GIRLS ART AND MAKER GROUP ENGAGES 15 IMMIGRANT TEEN WOMEN ON A MONTHLY BASIS THROUGH AN ARTS-BASED CURRICULUM. THE PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE PARTICIPANTS WITH A COMFORTABLE SPACE TO CONNECT WITH THEIR PEERS, SHARE EXPERIENCES, AND GAIN SUPPORT FROM CARING ADULT MENTORS. ADDITIONALLY, GIRLS GROUP PARTICIPANTS ACCESS OPPORTUNITIES TO SHOWCASE THEIR ARTWORK AT LOCAL EVENTS AND PUBLICATIONS WHICH SHOWCASES THE IMPORTANT VOICE OF IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE YOUTH IN OUR COMMUNITIES. THE FACEBOOK GRANT WAS UTILIZED FOR A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN ARYSE AND THE GLOBAL MINDS INITIATIVE. THE FUNDS WERE UTILIZED TO COVER THE COST OF TWO GLOBAL MINDS FELLOWS WHO FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING YOUTH- CENTERED PROGRAMMING FOR LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH WHO ATTEND TAYLOR ALLDERDICE HIGH SCHOOL.
