FREE ENGLISH LESSONS: DAILY ENGLISH CLASSES WERE PROVIDED TO 2800 STUDENTS IN 7 RURAL CAMBODIAN VILLAGES (BANAN, JEEPAN,KAMPONG PUOY, RATTINAK, ROKA, SAMLOT, SAMRANG). IN ADDITION ENGLISH TRAINING WAS PROVIDED TO ALL 39 LOCAL TEACHING STAFF. FOOD AND MEDICAL AID: APPROXIMATELY 4000 FAMILIES (ABOUT 10,000 INDIVIDUALS) WERE PROVIDED RICE. MANY ALSO WERE PROVIDED ADDITIONAL FOOD - CANNED FISH, FISH SAUCE AND SOY SAUCE. THE SCALE OF FOOD AID PROVIDED IN 2022 WAS ABOUT 4X THAT OF A NORMAL YEAR DUE TO PROLONGED COVID EFFECTS. TASSEL TEACHERS ALSO TOOK THE SICK TO APPROPRIATE DOMESTIC MEDICAL CENTERS AND PAID FOR THEIR HOSPITAL BILLS AS WELL AS TRAVEL AND MEAL EXPENSES. IN NORMAL YEARS THOSE WITH SERIOUS ILLNESSES ARE TAKEN TO THAILAND FOR DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT. HOWEVER, DUE TO COVID THE THAI BORDER REMAINED CLOSED FOR MOST OF 2022 SO PATIENTS WERE TAKEN ONLY TO DOMESTIC CENTERS IN BATTAMBANG AND PHNOM PENH. AS IN ALL YEARS, ALL PERSONS WHO RECEIVED FOOD AND MEDICAL AID IN 2022 WERE PRE-SCREENED CAREFULLY THROUGH FAMILY VISITS AND CONFIRMED BEFOREHAND THAT AID WAS CRITICAL.

SPONSORSHIPS: 41 FAMILIES (160 PERSONS) WERE PROVIDED MONTHLY CASH SUPPORT BY SPECIFIC SPONSORS. CASH WAS HAND-DELIVERED MONTHLY AND PICTURES OF THE EACH DELIVERY WERE PROVIDED TO EACH SPONSORING DONOR. SOME SPONSORS ALSO PROVIDED EXTRA FOOD SUPPORT DUE TO HEIGHTENED FOOD NEEDS BROUGHT ON BY COVID. SPONSORED FAMILIES ARE THE POOREST AMONG TASSEL'S AID RECIPIENTS AND WERE SELECTED THROUGH EXTENSIVE INTERVIEWS. THEIR SITUATION IS REVIEWED MONTHLY THROUGH VISITS. IN ADDITION TO FAMILIES, SELECTED DONORS SPONSORED A TRIP FOR THE LOCAL TEACHERS.
