AUROVILLE INTERNATIONAL USA (AVI USA) OPERATES FOR EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES BY SUPPORTING PROJECTS WITHIN THE CITY OF AUROVILLE IN INDIA. AUROVILLE IS AN ATTEMPT TO CREATE A UNIVERSAL TOWN WHERE PEOPLE OF ALL COUNTRIES CAN LIVE TOGETHER IN PEACE AND PROGRESSIVE HARMONY, ABOVE ALL CREEDS, ALL POLITICS, AND ALL NATIONALITIES. AVI USA ALSO PROMOTES, WHEREVER, WHENEVER POSSIBLE: UNDERSTANDING AND PEACE BETWEEN NATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS, A LIVING EMBODIMENT OF AN ACTUAL HUMAN UNITY, AN ENVIRONMENT FOR UNENDING EDUCATION, AND CONSTANT PROGRESS FOR HUMANKIND.DURING FISCAL YEAR 2023, AVI USA SUPPORTED 67 INDIVIDUAL CHARITABLE PROJECTS IN AUROVILLE. FOR SOME OF THESE PROJECTS, OUR SUPPORT WAS IN THE FORM OF GRANTS TO FURTHER THEIR WORK. FOR OTHERS, WE PROVIDED COACHING AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO
ENHANCE THEIR CAPACITY. AND SOME WE ACTUALLY ORGANIZED AND OVERSAW DIRECTLY.ALL THE GRANTS THAT WE SENT CAME FROM OUR OWN FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS, DONOR CULTIVATION AND STEWARDSHIP, AND GRANT WRITING. AND WE ALSO SENT MONTHLY EMAIL NEWSLETTERS, OUR ANNUAL PRINT NEWSLETTER CALLED CONNECT, AND HOSTED SEVERAL LIVESTREAM EVENTS THAT CONNECTED OUR GLOBAL AUDIENCE WITH PEOPLE DOING INTERESTING AND INNOVATIVE WORK IN AUROVILLE. DURING FY23 WE SENT GRANTS FOR LOCAL INNOVATIVE EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS LIKE THE LEARNING COMMUNITY, WHICH STRIVES TO BUILD A COMMUNITY WHERE CHILDREN AND ADULTS CAN GROW MORE CONSCIOUS OF THEMSELVES, EACH OTHER AND THE ENVIRONMENT, BY LEARNING AND
WORKING TOGETHER. WE ALSO SENT FUNDS FOR DEEPAM SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES, WHICH NURTURES THE TALENTS AND GIFTS OF 25 STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS FROM THE RURAL VILLAGES AROUND AUROVILLE AND PROVIDES EARLY INTERVENTION SUPPORT TO AN ADDITIONAL 30 LOCAL YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES. AND WE SUPPORTED AIKIYAM SCHOOL, WHERE 268 YOUNG PEOPLE FROM THE LOCAL VILLAGES RECEIVE A HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION THAT COMBINES A MONTESSORI-INSPIRED APPROACH WITH SRI AUROBINDOS TEACHINGS ON INTEGRAL EDUCATION AND A ROBUST ARTS AND VOCATIONAL PROGRAM.WE ALSO SEND FUNDING TO REGIONAL AND NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS LIKE ECOFEMME, WHICH HAS PROVIDED MENSTRUAL HEALTH EDUCATION AND CLOTH PAD KITS TO OVER 80,000 (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)
