SUPPORTING PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS IN THE AUROVILLE PROJECT IN INDIA AS THE FIRST ATTEMPT ANYWHERE TO CREATE A UNIVERSAL TOWN WHERE MEN AND WOMEN OF ALL COUNTRIES CAN LIVE TOGETHER IN PEACE AND PROGRESSIVE HARMONY, ABOVE ALL CREEDS, ALL POLITICS AND ALL NATIONALITIES.

AUROVILLE INTERNATIONAL USA SUPPORTS, AUROVILLE, A UNESCO RECOGNIZED INTERNATIONAL TOWNSHIP IN TAMIL NADU, SOUTH INDIA WITH THE GOAL OF HUMAN UNITY. AN ESTIMATED 10,000 AUROVILLE RESIDENTS AND VILLAGERS FROM SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES WERE SERVED.THIS YEAR SUPPORTED PROJECTS INCLUDE:RESEARCH - A COMPREHENSIVE STUDY INVOLVING OVER 100 INTERVIEWS AND REVIEW OF HISTORICAL AND COMPARATIVE INFORMATION ASSESSED THE OPPORTUNITIES AND OBSTACLES FOR AUROVILLE PROJECTS LOOKING TO EXPAND AND SCALE THEIR WORK. THE STUDY BEGAN IN JANUARY OF 2020 AND WAS ONGOING AT THE CLOSE OF THE FISCAL YEAR.HEALTHCARE - THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTED THE AUROVILLE AMBULANCE AND COVID TASK FORCE, WHICH PROVIDED DIRECT CARE FOR THOSE INFECTED WITH COVID, AND CONDUCTED CONTACT TRACING AND QUARANTINE TO PROTECT THE COMMUNITY.MANAGEMENT OF EMERGENCY RESPONSE - THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTED THE EMERGENCY RESPONSE TASK FORCE, WHICH SOLICITED AND SCREENED APPLICATIONS FROM AUROVILLE PROJECTS THAT WERE UNABLE TO PAY THEIR WORKFORCE DUE TO THE COVID LOCKDOWNS. OVER 65 PROJECTS RECEIVED 2 MONTHS OF RELIEF TO COVER LABOR COSTS.EDUCATION: THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTED SIX FORMAL SCHOOLS AND NINE INFORMAL EDUCATION PROJECTS, ENSURING THAT STUDENTS CONTINUED TO RECEIVE BOTH EDUCATION AND BASIC NEEDS SUCH AS FOOD AND CONNECTION WITH FRIENDS AND MENTORS/TEACHERS DURING THE COVID LOCKDOWNS.RURAL DEVELOPMENT: THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTED AUROVILLE VILLAGE ACTION AND MOHANAM, BOTH OF WHICH CONDUCTED EXTENSIVE EDUCATION AND RELIEF CAMPAIGNS IN THE LOCAL VILLAGES. THEY PROVIDED INFORMATION ABOUT COVID SAFETY, MEDICINES FOR PEOPLE WHO GOT SICK, SOAP AND OTHER HYGIENIC SUPPLIES, AND FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY. THEY ALSO BOTH CONTINUED THEIR WORK TO EMPOWER LOCAL WOMEN AND YOUTH AND TO PRESERVE AND HONOR LOCAL ARTS AND TRADITIONS.GREENWORK: THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTED EIGHT PROJECTS FOCUSED ON REAFFORESTATION IN AUROVILLE, AS WELL AS THE AUROVILLE FARM GROUP, WHICH ENSURED CONTINUED FOOD ACCESS DURING THE COVID LOCKDOWNS.LAND FUND: THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTED THE AUROVILLE LAND FUND, WHICH RAISES MONEY TO PURCHASE LANDS WITHIN THE AUROVILLE MASTER PLAN AREA.COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: THE ORGANIZATION HOSTED SEVERAL EDUCATION AND INFORMATIONAL LIVESTREAM EVENTS THAT INVITED VIEWERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD TO EXPERIENCE THE RICH AND DIVERSE WORK BEING DONE IN AUROVILLE IN MANY DIFFERENT FIELDS.
