PROMOTION OF AND THE CONTINUED GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE LIBRARY. ENSURING THE LIBRARY CAN CONTINUE TO PROVIDE LITERARY SERVICES AND RESOURCES TO THE COMMUNITY.

IN PAST YEARS THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION RECEIVED TECHNOLOGY GRANTS FROM 3M TO BE USED FOR THE CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS TO PROMOTE TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE. THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR PROVIDES A LIST OF EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS TO THE FOUNDATION FOR PURCHASING TO PROMOTE CREATIVE THINKING FOR THE YOUNG CHILDREN'S PROGRAM.


THE FOUNDATION WILL PROVIDE FUNDING TO THE LIBRARY WHEN THE LIBRARY COORDINATES AN EVENT OR CONTRACTS A NEW SERVICE THAT HAS NOT BEEN BUDGETED BY THE CITY. IN 2023 THE LIBRARY WAS ABLE TO GET A GRANT TO HOST THE NEA BIG READ IN 2023/2024, HOWEVER THE $20,000 GRANT NEEDED TO BE MATCHED, THE LIBRARY SECURED OTHER FUNDS FROM THE KNIGHT FOUNDATION, ABERDEEN AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION COMMITTED TO FUND UP TO $8,750 SO THE LIBRARY MET THEIR MATCH REQUIREMENTS. THE FOUNDATION FUNDED THIS IN 2024.


IN 2023, THE LIBRARY HOSTED CHILDREN AUTHOR ANDREW KOLB -BRINGING IN A PUBLIC ART PROJECT WITH THE KIDS DRAWING THEMSELVES AS A ROLE PLAYING GAME. THE TOTAL COST OF THE EVENT IS AROUND 18,000 THE FOUNDATION COMMITTED TO COVERING $14,000 OF THE COST AND THEY WERE ABLE TO GET ANOTHER $4000 FROM SD ARTS COUNCIL


THE LIBRARY REQUESTED FUNDS FOR SOME ADULT PROGRAMS THAT WAS NOT IN THE BUDGET THAT THE FOUNDATION HAS PROVIDED THE FUNDS TO ASSIST WITH THE PROGRAM TO GENERATE SOCIALIZATION WITH IN THE SENIOR POPULATION- PIE BINGO IT HAS BEEN A BIG HIT WITH THE SENIOR POPULATION
