RESIDENTIAL SERVICES - DAKOTABILITIES PROVIDES RESIDENTIAL SERVICES TO APPROXIMATELY 126 INDIVIDUALS THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF SIOUX FALLS AND OFFERS MANY DIFFERENT RESIDENTIAL OPTIONS. LIVING OPTIONS INCLUDE RESIDENTIAL HOMES, A RESIDENTIAL HOME WITH 24-HOUR NURSING SERVICES, APARTMENT LIVING AND IN-HOME CARE. SERVICES OFFERED AT RESIDENTIAL LOCATIONS INCLUDE TRAINING AND ASSISTANCE WITH ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING TASKS, INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS, COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION, ACTIVITY PLANNING AND MEDICAL SERVICES. SUPPORT IS PROVIDED TO EACH PERSON AT THE LEVEL THEY NEED AND CHOOSE, FOCUSING ON EMPOWERING EACH PERSON TO BE AS INDEPENDENT AS POSSIBLE, WHILE MAKING CHOICES IN ALL AREAS OF THEIR LIVES.
DAY SERVICES - DAKOTABILITIES PROVIDES DAY SERVICES TO APPROXIMATELY 134 INDIVIDUALS AND INCLUDES SEVERAL OPPORTUNITIES AT BOTH THE LONGFELLOW CENTER AND COMMUNITY-BASED ACTIVITIES. THE FOCUS IS ON PROVIDING A MEANINGFUL DAY FOR PEOPLE WHICH MAY INCLUDE PARTICIPATION IN A PLAY, PLANTING A COMMUNITY GARDEN, LISTENING TO AND PARTICIPATING IN MUSIC ACTIVITIES, DEVELOPING SKILLS AS AN ARTIST BY COMPLETING ART PROJECTS WITH A PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTOR, GOING SWIMMING OR FEEDING THE COWS AT A NEARBY FARM.SOME PEOPLE SUPPORTED WHO HAVE EMPLOYMENT GOALS FOCUS ON WORK ACTIVITIES BY WORKING FOR A FULL WAGE AT AN INDEPENDENT COMMUNITY JOB OR PARTICIPATING IN WORK AT A SITE SUPPORTED WITH DAKOTABILITIES STAFF.

*DAKOTABILITIES PROVIDES SERVICES TO APPROXIMATELY 135 INDIVIDUALS WITH MULTIPLE FORMS OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES THROUGH A VARIETY OF OPTIONS. CURRENT PROGRAMS ARE LOCATED IN SIOUX FALLS AND INCLUDE RESIDENTIAL AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING. EACH PROGRAM IS ORGANIZED THROUGH AN INTERDISCIPLINARY PROCESS WHICH COORDINATES EVALUATION, PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF DEVELOPMENTAL TRAINING AND CARE ACCORDING TO THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF THE INDIVIDUAL.* IN SEPTEMBER 2018, DAKOTABILITIES RECEIVED A FOUR-YEAR ACCREDITATION FROM THE COUNCIL ON QUALITY AND LEADERSHIP, A NATIONAL ACCREDITATION REVIEW TEAM. THE ACCREDITATION ADDRESSED THE QUALITY OF DAKOTABILITIES' SERVICES AND WAS ADJUNCT TO THE ARSD REVIEW.*IN JUNE 2022, DAKOTABILITIES RECEIVED ACCREDITATION FOR ITS SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES AS AN "APPROVED EDUCATIONAL SERVICE PROVIDER" IN SOUTH DAKOTA. REVIEWS AND REAUTHORIZATIONS ARE CONDUCTED ANNUALLY. *IN JUNE 2022, DAKOTABILITIES WAS REVIEWED BY THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA UNDER ITS ARSD (ADMINISTRATIVE RULES OF SOUTH DAKOTA) PROCESS AND RECEIVED A 2-YEAR ACCREDITATION.
