THE SHAW FAMILY OPERATED THIS FACILITY AS AN OVERNIGHT STOP ON THE WILMINGTON-RALEIGH STAGECOACH ROUTE IN THE 1700 AND 1800S. IT IS REPORTED TO BE THE OLDEST STANDING STRUCTURE IN HARNETT COUNTY. THE HOME IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 2.5 MILES SOUTH OF COATS, NC JUST OFF HWY 55.
