US DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY CLEAN CITIES COALITION - CLEAN CITIES COALITIONS FOSTER THE ECONOMIC, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND ENERGY SECURITY OF THE UNITED STATES BY WORKING LOCALLY TO ADVANCE AFFORDABLE, DOMESTIC TRANSPORTATION FUELS, ENERGY EFFICIENT MOBILITY SYSTEMS, AND OTHER FUEL-SAVING TECHNOLOGIES AND PRACTICES.

ELECTRIC FIRST/LAST MILE ON-DEMAND SHUTTLE SERVICE FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES IN CENTRAL TEXAS - IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NATIONAL RENEWABLE ENERGY LAB, WE DEPLOYED THREE EMISSIONS-FREE ELECTRIC SHUTTLES IN BASTROP, TEXAS TO PROVIDE RESIDENTS MORE AFFORDABLE MOBILITY CHOICES, CONNECT PATRONS AND VISITORS TO LOCAL BUSINESS DISTRICTS AND IMPROVE OVERALL CONNECTIVITY TO PUBLIC TRANSIT.


ELECTRIC VEHICLE (EV) ROUNDTABLE SERIES FOR BOTH SMALLER ELECTRIC PROVIDERS AND FOR LOCAL FLEETS - SERIES OF 2 VIRTUAL UTILITY ROUND TABLE DISCUSSIONS TO DETERMINE THE STATUS OF EV CHARGING IN LOCAL RURAL AREAS AND OFFER ASSISTANCE WITH POTENTIAL INCENTIVES AND DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY PROGRAMS. THE SERIES ALSO INCLUDED TWO ROUND TABLE DISCUSSIONS WITH AREA FLEETS TO DETERMINE SUPPORT NEEDED FOR ELECTRIFYING FLEETS AND INFORM FLEETS OF INCENTIVES CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. BOTH SERIES WILL CONTINUE IN 2022. WE PARTNERED WITH THE CAPITOL AREA COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS IN AUSTIN FOR PROMOTION AND FOLLOW UP.


AS A DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY CLEAN CITIES COALITION, OUR CONTRACTORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR A COLLECTION OF TASKS TO SUPPORT THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE NATIONAL CLEAN CITIES PROGRAM, INCLUDING PROVIDING TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND TARGETED OUTREACH TO RAISE AWARENESS OF ALTERNATIVE FUELS, TRACKING AND REPORTING PERFORMANCE METRICS TO GAUGE CONSUMER ACCEPTANCE AND TRACKING THE GROWTH/ADOPTION OF PETROLEUM REDUCTION TECHNOLOGIES. WE PROVIDE MONTHLY NEWSLETTERS ELECTRONICALLY TO OUR STAKEHOLDERS; HOST 'LISTENING SESSIONS' TO LEARN OF TECHNICAL ISSUES USERS HAVE THAT COULD BE WORKED ON BY THE NATIONAL RENEWABLE ENERGY LABS; PROVIDE QUARTERLY PROGRESS REPORTS OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS, TRACK AND REPORT ALTERNATIVE FUEL PRICES, IDENTIFY NEW ALT FUEL STATIONS, SHARE INFORMATION WITH OUR PEERS; HOST SITE VISITS AT ALT FUEL STATIONS OR MANUFACTURERS OF ALT FUEL VEHICLES; OFFER TRAINING SESSIONS AND GRANT ASSISTANCE AND MAINTAIN A WEBSITE.


AS A CLEAN CITIES COALITION, WE PARTNERED WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN, TENNESSEE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY, OAK RIDGE NATIONAL LABORATORY, TWO TENNESSEE CLEAN CITIES COALITIONS AND VARIOUS BUSINESSES TO KICK OFF A PROJECT ENTITLED 'MEDIUM-DUTY ETRUCK: PILOT ELECTRIFIED FLEETS IN URBAN AND REGIONAL APPLICATIONS, OCTOBER 2020 - DECEMBER 2024.' WE RECRUITED FLEETS IN THE AUSTIN AREA TO PARTICIPATE IN USING A CLASS 4 OR 5 ELECTRIC TRUCK FOR THREE MONTHS AND REPORTING THEIR FINDINGS.
